Inner City Tour:

The Inner City is part of the historic old town of Pest, situated on the banks of the Danube. Its borders follow the line of the old city walls. See Budapest's main shopping street, Váci Street.

Andrássy Avenue and City Park:

Andrássy Avenue is a 7,500-foot-long (2,310-meter-long) boulevard, which connects the Inner City with the City Park. Budapest City Park (Városliget) is one of the most exciting parts of Budapest. For the 1896 Hungarian millennium celebrations, many entertainment and cultural facilities were built here, which are still used to this day. You can visit the City Park lake, Zoo Boulevard, Budapest Zoo and Botanical Garden, Széchenyi Bath, and the Heroes square.

Citadel and Buda Castle:

The Citadel is a fortress standing on top of Gellért Hill. It was built in 1854 by the Habsburg emperors after overcoming the Hungarian army in the revolution of 1848-49. This UNESCO World Heritage Site offers panoramic city views. Numerous monuments of medieval origin, as well as houses and public buildings built in the 17th and 18th centuries, are to be found in the Buda Castle District.

In the afternoon, visit at least three Christmas markets. The scent of traditional Hungarian foods such as lángos (fried bread with a variety of toppings), kürtöskalács (a cone-shaped sweet hollow pastry), roasted meats, fried sausages, home-made strudels, töki pompos (oven-baked dough), and roasted chestnuts wafting in the air is sure to whet your appetite. Soak up the holiday atmosphere and keep yourself warm while strolling among the wooden stalls with a cup of mulled wine.
