Why You Shouldn’t Miss This

Budapest has always been one of Europe’s major centres of commerce, art, research, and education. Constructed in 1 AD by the Celts, this military settlement grew steadily under the Romans who occupied it shortly after it was established. Thoroughly influenced by the Italian Renaissance, the city went through a massive revival during the reign of King Matthias Corvinus in the 14th and 15th centuries.

The Citadel (Citadella) is one of the city’s shining examples of architectural beauty. This mid-19th-century fortress was built atop Gellért Hill, which sits on the banks of the Danube. Buda Castle, also on the banks of the river, is an impressive feat of medieval architecture. The river serves as the border between Buda and Pest. The famous Chain Bridge that connects these two halves of the city can also be seen on the cruise.

Your Experience

It would be an understatement to say that the dock from which your cruise begins is a scenic location in itself. Enjoy the amazing views here as you wait for your tour to commence. Put on your headphones as soon as you get on the boat and get detailed audio commentary describing all the places you will see on the cruise. Glide past iconic landmarks like the Chain Bridge, the Citadella, House of Parliament and the Great Market Hall. Snacks and Wi-Fi will be available on board. The tour will begin at dock 8A. You can take the cruise at anytime of day and as many times as you want over a 24-hour period. If you redeem your tickets at 4:00 PM, you will be able to use these tickets till the next day at 4:00 PM respectively.

With one variant, you will also have the ability to choose two drinks from a comprehensive collection of the best beers, champagne, wine and vodka. Situated on higher ground and extensively illuminated with lights, the Buda Castle presents a stunning sight at night. The Hungarian Parliament building is another eye-catching monument. Built in the Gothic Revival style of architecture, the building is made of white stone topped with a brick red roof.

You can also see the towering Matthias Church. It has a massive tower and is a prime example of neo-Gothic architecture of Europe. The tower is dotted with numerous Gothic statues and it is crowned with a large statue. The large windows are in the classic Gothic style. The roof of the building is in red brick, and is a wonderful contrast to the white stone. The seven towers of the Fisherman's Bastion can be seen situated close to the Matthias Church.
