Communist Tour of Budapest with private driver and guide
If you want to travel back in time and learn about the communist era of Budapest, this will be a very interesting tour, led by a professional guide with private transport.
Your itinerary will start at Kossuth Square in front of the opulent Parliament building, a very important scene of the Hungarian freedom fight where the Prime Minister, Imre Nagy held his famous speech. Soon we reach Liberty square, a place heavily loaded with history and legends, full of memories of the past both underground and above.
Our next stop will be Heroes’ Square that looked a little different back in those times, now a UNESCO site.
Our most scenic stop will be the Liberty statue on top of Gellert hill, overlooking the mighty River Danube and Pest.
The statue was first erected in 1947 in remembrance of what was then referred to as the Soviet liberation of Hungary during World War II, which ended the occupation by Nazi Germany. Its location upon Gellért Hill makes it a prominent feature of Budapest's cityscape.
Our last stop will be the communist statue park just outside of Budapest. At the end of the tour your driver will take you back to your accommodation.
With this comprehensive 3-4 hour tour you will be able to enjoy travelling back in time!
