About this activity
Why You Shouldn’t Miss This

The Hungarian Parliament Building is one of the two tallest buildings in Budapest and is the largest building in Hungary. It sits in the bank of the River Danube. Built in the Gothic Revival style, its facade is populated by spires and pointed arches that are well associated with Gothic architecture. There are an astonishing 242 sculptures scattered throughout the building. Its central dome is built in the Renaissance Revival architecture.

Since it a popular attraction in Budapest, there are two perfectly identical Parliament halls. One is used for political purposes, while the other, for tours.

One of the most famous features is the presence of a sixteen-sided central hall, with adjoining chambers of the Lower and Upper houses. The Hungarian Folklore Show includes a scintillating performance by some of the top ensembles in Hungary, the Danube Folk Ensemble, Rajkó Folk Ensemble, and the Hungarian State Folk Ensemble.

Your Experience

The Eclectic style of architecture combined with the Neo-Gothic details makes for a unique sight. A guide will take you around the massive halls while giving you a brief history of the place. You can walk up the ornamental staircase and see the frescoes on the ceiling and walls. Several statues of Hungarian leaders and famous military leaders can be seen throughout the attraction. The royal coat of arms can be seen detailed on the windows and tapestries. You will get to lay your eyes on one of the most beautiful relics of Hungary, the Holy Crown.

The dance performances of the Folklore show will give you an insight into the music, costume and dance heritage of Hungary and the surrounding regions. As you take in the breathtaking performances of these proficient musicians, the history of Hungary will unfold before you.

As a bonus, you will also be given passes to two Danube ships, the Kossuth Museum ship, and Gróf Széchenyi Museum Ship. Spectacular exhibitions can be seen inside the two, and Hungarian naval history can be understood.
