Supersaver: Budapest UNESCO City Walking Tour and Small-Group Budapest Art and Culture Walking Tour
Stroll across the streets of Budapest with a local guide on this 3-hour tour. Greet your guide at Absolute Tour Center, located on Lázár Street in central Budapest. Beginning at the Hungarian State Opera House, you’ll hop on the metro for a quick ride out to City Park, beloved by locals and visitors alike, and Heroes’ Square. There you’ll see the impressive statues of Hungary’s most important national leaders.
After taking a walk through the park, you’ll come to the Vajdahunyad Castle, constructed in 1896 as part of the Millennial Exhibition, which celebrated 1,000 years since the Hungarian Conquest of the Carpathian Basin. Your next stop will be the popular Szechenyi Spa, Europe’s largest thermal bath, before taking the metro back into the city center.
From there, you’ll encounter the neo-classical structure of St. Stephen’s Basilica, one of the two tallest buildings in Budapest. Afterward, take a load off your feet in a Hungarian cafe where you can relax with a hot drink and two delicious pastries included in the price of your ticket.
After your snack, you’ll continue along the cobblestone streets towards the Danube Promenade, taking in the panorama of Gellert Hill and the Citadel, while snapping a photo of the Chain Bridge.
You’ll conclude your tour in the Buda Castle District, where you can take the last of your photos from the stunning lookout at Fisherman's Bastion.
3-hour Art and Culture Budapest Walking Tour:
Shy away from the usual tourist stops on this 3-hour walking experience with a local guide, and get an inside look at Budapest’s alternative culture. Greet your guide at Deak Square in front of the Lutheran Church step.
You’ll first scout out the synagogues in the Jewish Quarter, hidden slightly from view. Next, head to some of Budapest’s most impressive street art galleries to immerse yourself in the underground art scene, before making a quick stop at a cool coffeehouse (own expense) and photo gallery. Then, travel to the place where the underground scene started, learn the stories of how the art world kept alive under the communist leadership. Each tour route is different depending on what is happening in the city, but you’ll visit a mixture of arts and culture centers, abandoned synagogues, independent galleries, community spaces, music venues
