About this activity
From the beginning, the origin of flamenco songs has been attributed to three germinal influences: Arabic, Hebrew and Romani. Flamenco represents all the songs, rhythms and dances created in Andalusia by the gypsies, who recast the elements of the Moorish, Arabic, Andalusian, the Oriental folklore of Andalusia with elements brought by the gypsies from Pakistan passing through Palestine and Egypt.

Jerez de la Frontera is and has been qualified throughout the last two centuries as one of the most important flamenco enclaves. From this albariza (white clay-like soil) land linked to the culture of wine, a multitude of singers, dancers and guitarists have proliferated, each with its own personality and with a creative capacity that is unparalleled. Jerez has been in this aspect a paradigm, a fundamental reference and the standard for many other artists, who drank and felt the purity of this art. So much so that today, it is still considered 'the cradle of flamenco singing.' The name of Jerez de la Frontera is therefore closely linked to one of the most important cultural manifestations in the world, a manifestation considered since 2010 an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity and that in this city of Cadiz, located in southern Spain, prevails in any of its streets. Precisely, it is flamenco and the smell of wine that you'll breathe through the streets and squares of Jerez.

From the meeting point, you will begin your walk through the streets of Jerez passing through the neighborhood of Santiago to visit the Flamenco Art Museum. After knowing the different styles of flamenco singing and dancing, follow a path to the other emblematic neighborhood of flamenco known as San Miguel. During your walk through the city, there will be some rest to taste some tapas and wine typical of Jerez. After visiting some bars and Peña Flamenca (Flamenco Social Club) and meeting its people, you will return to the starting point.
