Absolutely amazing views over Green Island, various reefs, Port Douglas and Palm Cove from every seat in the plane. Pilot was very informative and took us as low as 500 feet over reef from where we could clearly see the many turtles, rays and sharks below us. Operator was very efficient, picking us up from and returning us to our hotel at the agreed times as well as providing reassuring preflight safety and tour information. Without a doubt this was the highlight of our trip to Cairns and well worth the expense. Best tips are to make sure you take this or a similar flight and make sure camera batteries are fully charged and you have tons of space on your memory card.
We had a very good flight over the reef with fairly good visibility. Our young female pilot was very knowledgeable when I asked he out of the box questions although not able to answer all which is understandable. The flight was particularly smooth with a good look at the reef which we went by boat to a couple of days later. Well worth the money since we had considered doing so by helicopter which we decided was too expensive for too short a flight. I loved the fact that we were high enough to see all that mattered whereby a helicopter needed to operate at the same altitude anyway. Helicopter option was available from the reef anyway if we had wanted but of a shorter duration.
