1 day
About this activity
Travel in style as we take you into the Wet Tropics of Far North Queensland on our popular full day Atherton Tablelands tour.

Departing daily Barefoot Tours is all about fun, adventure, laughs and swimming in some of the best spots to visit in the Cairns area; like the natural rock slide at Josephine falls, Millaa Millaa falls, the volcanic crake Lake Eacham and the half century old fig tree.

We offer small personalized group tours with a maximum of 20 travellers. “We love to laugh, we love to joke, we are passionate about the Cairns region and passionate about showing our beautiful country off to the world.” (Owner of Barefoot Tours)

This tour welcomes those aged 10 years and older, if under 18 then travelling with an adult.

Barefoot Tours customizes the route and the timings of their day based on the customers on the day and the weather that nature delivers that day… this allows for customers to be able to make the most out of their day and have control over their day on the bus, and to change things up with the help/advice from their Barefoot Tours guide.

Your Atherton Tablelands day tour includes proper coffee/tea/hot choc, morning and afternoon tea. They also provide a FREE picnic lunch which is homestyle sandwiches and fresh fruit – they do cater to dietaries so let them know in advance if you have any!

Your Atherton Tablelands tour kicks off around 7am from any Cairns city hotel (or hostel) in their fun bright orange bus!

The main sights the Atherton Tablelands tour visits are:
• Lake Eacham
• Fig tree
• Dinner falls + The crater
• Millaa Millaa falls
• Josephine falls

Some of the occasional stops we add include: Malanda falls, Zillie falls, Babinda boulders, Ellinjaa falls, Henrietta creek, Tchupala falls, Wallicher falls, and a few lookouts on the way up/down.

Please make sure you pack a towel, swimmers, flip flops or sneakers, mossy repellent for those pesky mossies, sunscreen so you don’t turn into a lobster, your camera for all the cool stops we visit and the possibility of spotting some of Australia’s’ endemic wildlife like the famous cassowaries or a green tree frog, platypus, turtles, tree kangaroos and possibly even a croc! It is also recommended to pack a jumper for those winter months when the weather is cooler.

Barefoot Tours returns around 6-7:30pm and are happy to return you to your Cairns city hotel (or hostel) or they can drop you off anywhere in the Cairns CBD city area.

So, if you are ready to have your socks blown away by Barefoot Tours then join up for a fun, safe, relaxed stress-free day in the amazing Atherton Tablelands, Cairns region, Australia. Book in advance to avoid missing out!

This tour was so much fun from the minute I stepped on the coach, great views, fantastic waterfalls and chances to swim in them. Sliding down the natural rock slide at Josephine falls was my highlight!

It's a long day and there are many stops along the way. Make sure you take a motion-sickness pill otherwise the ride could get uncomfortable. Our tour guide was nice and kept feeding us with snacks all day long. I enjoyed the optional walk around Lake Eycham. I liked the stops, however, I don't think the rock slide should be part of the tour. Two people in my group got injured because the rocks are so slippery.

We had so much fun on our Barefoot Tour to see the waterfalls. Our tour guide, Rohan, was hilarious and friendly and we had an awesome group of people that we toured with. We all got to know each other on our day-long tour, exploring the falls, swimming in stunning pools, and sliding down a natural rock slide! All-in-all, it was an amazingly fun experience and a great way to spend a day exploring and learning about the region just outside of Cairns. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a fun but relaxed day tour.
