About this activity
After pickup from your hotel, head north along the Captain Cook Highway passing through the most Northern beach suburb of Palm Cove and hear about the rich history of Double and Haycock Islands and be amazed at the huge melaleuca trees that are hundreds of years old.

Continue the journey north along one of the most picturesque coastal drives in the world, stopping at Rex Lookout for views over Trinity Beach and back towards the mountains of the Great Dividing Range.

The next stop is the small seaside village of Port Douglas for short town tour before heading to Mossman Gorge on the southern edge of the Daintree World Heritage area. Here you’ll enjoy morning tea in the New Mossman Gorge Centre.

Board a shuttle bus accompanied by your Naturalist or Eco/World Heritage accredited guide and head up to the national park for a guided walk in dense tropical rainforest. Enjoy the views over the huge granite boulders and crystal clear waters of the Mossman River. If time and weather permits you will be able to refreshing swim.

Heading further north and passing the sugar cane fields of North Queensland, stop for delicious lunch at the Daintree Tea House, the longest-established restaurant in the Daintree area that serves local produce of the highest standards.

After lunch, join a small and personalized cruise on the Daintree River. If you are lucky enough, you may even spot the elusive crocodile.

Continuing north along winding and picturesque road toward Cape Tribulation. Along the way you’ll see even more wonders of the World Heritage-listed Daintree National Park. A stop at the Alexandra Lookout is an opportunity to look back over the coastal road just travelled and take in the breathtaking views over the Daintree River mouth, Snapper Island and Low Isles.

Continue further north, stopping at Marrdja Boardwalk for a guided walk in one of the most bio-diverse areas in the Daintree Rainforest. From here, head to Cape Tribulation where two World Heritage areas meet – the Rainforest of the Daintree National Park and the Great Barrier Reef.

Leaving Cape Tribulation Beach, venture south back toward The Daintree River, stopping along the way at the Daintree Ice Cream Factory for afternoon tea. Here you will have the opportunity to sample locally made ice-cream featuring seasonal fruits of the tropics (at own expense).

Shortly after, arrive at the Daintree River and board the cable ferry to cross this mighty river. The journey home gives you time to relax and reflect on your day before you are returned to your accommodation.

We had a great day touring through the Daintree and rest of tour. Great information from our tour guide Mick, at the rainforest and also Dave who took us for a river cruise on the Daintree river, where we saw crocs sunning themselves on the river bank. Had a great lunch sampling local produce with very informative explanation of all the tropical fruits on our plates. Would recommend this tour as they looked after us very well. Well organised, professional service and Mick kept us on track with timings, without being rushed.

We spent two days in Cairns and did the Great Barrier Reef the first day and this tour the second. Our guide - Steve - was knowledgeable and enthusiastic and made sure we had a good time. It was a great way to see north of Cairns with a number of sites and some good stops along the way. My favorites were Cape Tribulation and the crocodile boat tour. The main complaint from other reviews is that it is a really long day. That’s true - we left at 7 am and returned around 7 pm - with a bunch of driving. However, the itinerary makes clear it is around 12 hours when you book and you see a ton of good stuff so I’m not sure why others are surprised. If you’ve got two days in Cairns and are looking for something other than the Reef to do, this is a great option.

All day trip, with a lot of driving. Drop the Port Douglas drive through and give back 1 hour to the guest. Overall the guide was informative but tended to bash other countries. There are probably better tours out there.

Everything about this day trip was well organised and enjoyable. Great value and our guide really looked after us well. Amazing how much we fitted into this day yet it didn't seem rushed. We saw scar face the daddy of crocks and also two of the large male birds that care for their young. The coach was very comfortable and it was a small group tour so we all chatted and enjoyed each others company. I would recommend this tour of Mossman gorge, The daintree and Cape Tribulation to everyone travelling to Port Douglas.

This was a fantastic tour. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and this made the trip very interesting. He also had a wonderful sense of humour. Some folks on the tour were not aware of the length of time the tour was to take and were anxious about getting back - this made the rest of us feel like some things were cut short or rushed through at the end. Otherwise the places we went were amazing and lots of opportunities to look around and take pictures.

Really enjoyed this tour!! Got to see plenty of rainforest and the swim at Mossman was very cool. Our tour guide Mickey was excellent! It was great to try the different tropical fruits at lunch and with the ice cream.

This was a ridiculously long tour and we saw so many things throughout the day that I lost count. The Gorge was beautiful and we got to stop for a swim in the clear, cool waters highly recommended on a hot day. Franck our guide/drive was awesome, explaining things along the way and making sure we were all accounted for. Lunch was delicious and the lesson on the exotic fruits was unexpected and really enjoyable especially since we got to taste most of them with the included meal. The tour was small about 13 ppl, and we made a lot of stops for photos and to see sites. There are a lot of twists and turns, so if you get car sick easily, it might be worth taking something since a lot of time is spent in the small van.
