About this activity
After pickup from your hotel, travel by comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle north along the coast, taking in rugged mountains to one side and miles of golden sand and crystal clear waters to the other.

When you reach Wildlife Habitat Port Douglas, disembark to explore the wildlife park, which features native Australian wildlife in rainforest, wetlands and grasslands exhibits. See the critters up close, including cassowaries, tree-kangaroos, crocodiles, koalas and a variety of birds. You can even hand-feed kangaroos and wallabies.

Next, travel another 15 minutes north to Mossman Gorge, located in the southern section of Daintree National Park. Your guide shares informative commentary as you take a leisurely walk through the rainforest to viewing decks above the Mossman River. Learn about how local Kuku Yalanji people utilize forest plants for food, shelter and medicine and look for wildlife such as the Ulysses butterfly and Boyd's forest dragon.

Continue up the coast to Cape Tribulation, using the Daintree River Ferry to cross the river. Stop at the Mt Alexandra Lookout for spectacular views that extend on a clear day from the Daintree Rainforest and Daintree River across the Coral Sea to the edge of the Great Barrier Reef.

Arrive at Cape Tribulation and enjoy a delicious lunch at Cape Tribulation Beach House. For your main course, choose from locally caught barramundi (fish), steak or a vegetarian option, accompanied by garden salad, chips, fresh-baked bread and tropical fruit.

In the afternoon, enjoy free time to explore the white sands of the world famous beach. You can swim in the Coral Sea (in season), cool off in the rainforest pool at Cape Tribulation Beach House or stroll along the beach and boardwalk.

Then return to the Daintree River for a 1-hour cruise in calm waters. Be on the lookout for birds, butterflies, reptiles and saltwater crocodiles, and marvel at the tall mangroves that line the banks.

After the river cruise, your guide returns you to your hotel with a brief stop at Rex Lookout between Port Douglas and Cairns.

Late start to the day, clearly flustered bus driver. Well under an hour spent at the wildlife park (tickets were offered for the next day but as we already had a full itinerary we couldn't accept as much as we would have loved to see more of the park). Bus trip out to a shuttle bus to access the gorge for a quick board walk. Back on the bus for a very long drive to a backpackers type place for lunch. No Rainforest walks near this site, just a rather ordinary stretch of beach. Not sure why the drive was so far to that particular place when others were passed along the way, unless they have a super cheap deal. Another long drive back to the saviour of the day Daintree River Cruise, a great time with a super informative guide. Much of this tour was unfortunately spent on the bus and in an extremely hurried fashion as the points to visit were far apart. Most people actually ended up falling asleep on the bus for stretches of the 'tour'. Would be better off to take a self drive to see the parts worth doing (the Wildlife Park and Daintree River Cruise) and exploring the Daintree yourself to actually get the chance to walk amongst the Rainforest. Other tours we did during our stay were the Kuranda Day Tour and Quicksilver Reef tour which were both amazing and so well run.

Nice, easy walk in the rain forest, the guide was very passionate and knowledgeable ! We would have loved to see the zombie ants, but there were none on that day .

The driver picked us up an hour after our pick up time. One driver picks up all over town. The wildlife sanctuary was excellent. The walk in the forest was in a native led area, with a short hike along the River. It was a long drive to Cape Tribulation, but lunch was excellent. The beach is great. The river trip was short with 1 sighting of a croc. Long drive back to Cairns.

This was one of the trips I was very much looking forward to, but, frankly, it didn't feel nearly as exciting as the description on Viator. The rainforest walk, which I was so looking forward to, was a 1/2hr walk down a boardwalk and a well-traveled short path. Every time anyone got one foot off the path, we were told to get back on the path to avoid liability issues in case someone got hurt. The beach was picturesque, though swimming was out of the question. Perhaps the best part of the trip was the riverboat ride spotting crocs and wild birds. The rest of it was a whole lotta driving. Our driver was knowledgeable and a good guide, but overall, the trip wasn't what I was expecting.

As others have said, all three places were very nice, worth seeing but our big tour bus had every seat taken and we were often given way less time than we would have liked. First stop we were just dropped at the entrance with no guidance about how to plan our very short time. Luckily we went right to the kangaroos or we could have easily missed them all together. A 5 minute bathroom stop had 4 minutes used just getting off the bus. The rainforest was also a quick tour and we left feeling like there was so much more to see but had to rush out to keep on schedule. The rides to all places were excessively long. Our guide shared interesting information on the way there but did not interact with us in any way on the way back. Lunch and beach time were especially rushed. Had hoped to get in the water but never did. Each person was allotted one piece of bread and when a vegetarian family with many children did not like their meal they were reluctant to give them bread. I had kangaroo which was rare I usually love rare meat but it was so tough I couldn't cut it even with the steak knife I had to ask for. Our guide seemed disinterested and didn't even get off the bus when he made the hotel stops, like he really wanted to get home. We always tip very generously on our excursions, but this one was not tip worthy .

Amazing and educational! Andrew was our driver on this day trip and he did a great job. I learned a LOT about these places, learned small details that were fun! I even got a chance to eat a kangaroo steak! I was yummy! The time spent on the beach was short, but relaxing after the long day of adventure!

We weren't lucky enough to see a croc, but I guess it was the wrong time of the year!
