About this activity

Make your way directly to Skedaddle on E Finger at the northern side of the Cairns Marina (adjacent to the easily visible “Salt House” restaurant). On arrival you will be welcomed by your captain before stepping aboard Skedaddle to meet your crew.

Check-in is at Skedaddle.

All equipment is provided and your crew will assist you with fitting the correct size snorkel or dive equipment as you board the vessel. Wet suits or stinger suits, mask and fins are then stored in your own personal locker.

The dive briefing for scuba divers commences promptly at 11:30 (don’t be late) and details in-water skills.

Departing Cairns, the safety briefing explains the various safety systems and procedures on-board, how the day will run and where to find your crew.

Being the fastest reef tour in Cairns, it only takes 35 minutes for Skedaddle to reach Michaelmas Cay, near the outer edge of the Great Barrier Reef.

On arrival, there is a site briefing then a snorkel demonstration to ensure all are aware of the equipment, health risks of snorkelling and things to be aware of at the reef. After which you gather your equipment, organise a buoyancy vest or noodle, collect your suit and make the short ferry trip to Cairn’s largest sand cay island.

Experienced or novice, the calm waters of the beach is the best location to commence your guided snorkel tour. The tour guides depart in small groups, out over shallow reef waters towing a life ring. Your guide will assist you with your equipment and although the high-quality mask and snorkel are easy to fit, novice snorkellers have more time in the shallow water to make final adjustments.

Introductory divers commence their dive from Skedaddle under the supervision of our caring instructors.

After your dive or snorkel excursion, there is ample time to revisit the reef with you snorkel buddy. Or you can relax and take the glass bottom boat tour.

With a good 2½ hours of diving, snorkelling, or coral viewing you are ready for afternoon tea where the safety head count is conducted and with all signed back on-board, Skedaddle returns to Cairns.

WARNING:

Children must be taller than 1.3 metres or 4 feet 3 inches to travel – height is checked at boarding.

Skedaddle is not recommended for persons with: back or neck problems, recent operations, recent injuries, broken bones or are pregnant.
