About this activity
The coral cay of Green Island is located in a marine national park covered by lush rainforest and sandy white beaches. Magnificent coral reefs are home to colorful fish, giant clams, turtles, sea anemones and other marine life.
Both the SNUBA® and The SNUBA Doo® are easier than snorkeling. No training or dive experience are necessary, and there is no heavy bulky equiqment.
SNUBA® was created for those who enjoy the simplicity of snorkeling and would like to experience the wonders of breathing underwater, a unique, patented shallow water diving system, bridging the gap between snorkelling and scuba diving.
SNUBA Doo® Power Snorkeling is when you remain on the surface by wearing a buoyancy jacket and using the SNUBA® raft to breath through a scuba regulator mouthpiece. It is a great way to get your confidence up in the water. It is easier than snorkelling because you won’t get any water into your mouth, (which may happen with the snorkel tube). You will also be close to the SNUBA® raft for additional surface support.
Certain medical conditions and medications may preclude some people from participating in optional in-water activities.
In the morning, you’ll check in at the centrally-located Reef Fleet Terminal where your SNUBA® and The SNUBA Doo® time slot will be confirmed. Then board a luxurious high-speed catamaran to cruise the 15 nautical miles (27 kilometers) to Green Island.
On the way to Green Island, your crew will give a snorkeling demonstration and suggestions on how to make the most of your time at the island. Choose from a variety of additional activies including glass-bottom boat tours, supervised snorkeling trips and rainforest walks.
Aboard the catamaran, you’ll be provided with morning tea or coffee, a licensed bar offers beverages all day (own expense), and a buffet lunch is served for those who have chosen the option.
If you’d like to visit Green Island Resort, you can make use of their facilities–including showers, changing rooms, restrooms, shopping and equipment hire. Or take a short walk one of the trails in the national park. Canoes, sailboards, surf skis, beach chair and umbrella rentals are also available.
You’ll be returned to Cairns around 5pm to end the tour.
