About this activity
Please be at the Kananaskis Outfitters shop. located in the Kananaskis Village Center 15 minutes before the tour start time to fill out waivers. We will be leaving the shop promptly at 1 pm so please be on time.
Your guide will transport the group to/from the hike trail-head in a 15 passenger van; the drive is approximately 40 minutes each way.
Our hike, Ptarmigan Cirque, begins at the Highwood Pass and climbs 210m into a beautiful alpine cirque. The trail is 4.5km round trip.
We are running rain or shine. Should our guides deem the conditions unsafe for hiking, we reserve the right to reschedule to a later date.
If you are not sure what to wear or carry hiking, here are a couple suggestions on what to bring:
• Dress in layers: a base layer, insulation layer and wind layer are ideal at higher altitudes, even in the Summer. Temperatures will drop as we hike higher, so having something warm to put on and block the wind is a good idea.
• Wool hiking socks and sturdy hiking boots or running shoes.
• Small day pack with water, snacks, personal items, etc.
• Sunglasses, hat and sunscreen.
• Camera.
There is a deli next door to our shop if you need to purchase food or drinks.
