About this activity
Your tour starts with pick up from Canakkale Hotels at 8am. First drive to Parion where you will arrive around 9.30am. On your tour you will visit:
The Odeon was built in the 2nd century B.C. as a public building designed for small-scale concerts and meetings. A seating area, thought to have had a capacity of 1,000, has been unearthed, and the round and square mosaics over the semi-circular orchestra pit have been carefully preserved.
The seating area of the theatre was ravaged in the Roman period to build a defence wall. When the excavation of the still extant stage section is completed, however, the stage and orchestra will emerge and the seating arrangement will be recreated using the original stones.
This structure exhibits all the characteristics of a typical Roman bath. It is thought to have been a rather large complex owing to its proximity to the theatre. Excavation of the changing rooms of the structure, which was used as a garbage dump for 400-500 years in the late Roman period, is targeted this year.
A terraced structure, thought to have been a bath or a villa, overlooks the city’s theater and bath. In addition to a pool heated from below, there are also two special wash basins. Based on recently unearthed marble fragments, the walls are thought to have been encased in marble, and some floors paved with mosaics.
Continue on to Biga
Enjoy famous meatballs with Biga’s special cheese dessert with syrup for lunch.
Return to Canakkale your tour finishes with drop off at hotels.
