About this activity

Part 1 – your electric bike journey (11am to 1.00pm.)

Your electric bike journey starts at the beginning, in Reconciliation Place - with stories of Australia’s First Nations peoples and their enduring connection to the country. Our bikes will glide us around the lake through parklands to take in the vistas of the mountains beyond.

Leaving the heart of the city behind its time to meander along quiet cycle paths.

Part 2 –Self-guided electric bike trips around Canberra (1.30pm to 4pm). Equipped with a map and advice from your local guide you can choose to keep your electric bike for the afternoon (included in the tour price) to go and explore some of our other national attractions or lakeside cycle paths in your own time. If you love a bushland ride you can do the whole western lake cycle path circuit in about one hour, plus stops. You can then return the bike to us at the start of the kayak trip near the National Museum at 4pm. This e-bike hire option is only available on the Canberra All Encompassed tour.

Part 3 – your pedal kayak cruise (4pm to 5.30pm).

After fitting you with a life vest, running through a few safety instructions and getting some practice in with the pedal-drive system, we’ll set off for a glide around the lake and enjoy exceptional water views of the city, the lake islands and the surrounding forested peaks.

The exact route we follow will depend on the weather conditions that day and what you want to see. Your relaxing lake kayak cruise will normally include:

  • Learning about the lake, its wildlife and the antics of the water-birds
  • Discovering the story behind the colourful architecture and spiral sky loops of the National Museum of Australia
  • Pulling up for a short break to explore a lake island or lakeside beach
  • The freedom to meander, relax and soak up the afternoon light dancing on the water

With your hands free to record the serene moments on your camera our slow kayak cruise gives you time to enjoy the rhythm and freedom of the water.

For kayaking: Bring adequate clothing for the conditions, especially to stay warm on colder days when out on the water. (Clothing can be stored in dry hatches on the kayaks). A hat (with chin strap to stay on if windy), some sunglasses, a dab of sunscreen, and a small water bottle are handy.
