When we selected this excursion initially there were more reviews than what is showing now. One of the main reasons we chose it is because nearly every review we read described all the great information about the area and the ruins that was shared by their driver on the ride there. Our driver did not speak a word of English and did not say a thing to us the entire way there and back (over 45 minutes each way). Some of the reviews mentioned their driver stopping at a roadside pineapple stand or other such fun things to make their experience great, and again, we had none of those. We did love visiting Chacchoben and thought the ruins were very interesting. When we arrived we were not given a map and had no idea where to go, so that was a bit stressful. We thought about a guided tour, but it was $40 for one hour so we decided against it. Finally just started walking and discovered everything on our own. We were disappointed that we didn’t spot even one spider monkey. The staff at Ibiza Beach club were great. Just know that there is a reason that the picture of their beach area is of the sand and seating and not looking out over the water. There are many sections of “fence” which hold back the seaweed and it’s not very pretty. The water is not clear and we decided not to snorkel even though we brought our equipment. We did see a few fun fish near the surface in the little enclosed section. The food was good (especially the beef tacos!) and open bar was nice. We did feel very taken care of! Still not a bad excursion for the price, but wish a few things had been better.
The ruins were very cool and we were able to see some great things just walking around. Traveling between each was simple. Then the beach was incredible, exactly what you imagine on vacation sitting on the beach with a margarita. The staff were amazing as well. Leo and Jackie were fantastic.
