About this activity
Tulum used to be a commercial and cultural center of the Mesoamerican Caribbean. It rests on a cliff and overlooking a majestic beach that once served as a port.

After hotel pickup in Cancun, head to the ruins of Tulum and explore this ancient Maya city by the sea. Visit "The Castle" main building that was used as a lighthouse, Join us on this archaeological and fun expedition in the Riviera Maya and get a glimpse of the vision of the universe of this enigmatic culture. Later you can take a refreshing swim in one of the most beautiful open cenote (water sinkhole near Tulum).

At the end of this combo adventure you'll go to the famous 5th Avenue (Quinta Avenida) in Playa del Carmen, a cosmopolitan Caribbean place with local handcrafts, Habano cigar shops, pubs with terraces and swings, without forgetting the Mexican cuisine, from the traditional tacos to a variety of international casual restaurants.

After a great day, you will be dropped-off back at your hotel.

This tour was purchased as a gift for my husband and I on our honeymoon from my in-laws. This tour was an amazing experience! First we were picked up at our hotel promptly at 730am, taken to a larger, more comfortable charter bus to make the drive south. Took about 1.5 hours from Cancun to Tulum. First stop was Tulum, and it was absolutely beautiful! We had a very knowledgeable tour guide and plenty of time to explore on our own! Lots of walking on this part of the excursion though. Here for about 2.5 hours total. Second was swimming in the cenote, which was secluded and refreshing after the hot day we had at Tulum! Crystal clear water and just a great experience! Here for about 1 hour. On the way to Playa del Carmen we stopped at a restaurant where we had sandwiches packed for us to eat on the bus for lunch ham and cheese, chicken, or vegetarian plus a granola bar, all very tasty! We spent about 2.5 hours in Playa Del Carmen exploring 5th Avenue, the main street for shopping/dining/entertainment. The beach is about 1-2 blocks from here, and we were able to walk down there for a bit. Playa del Carmen is a beautiful city but definitely much different than Cancun culture/scenery/beach/hotels. We were dropped back off at our hotel at 630pm. Made for a long day, but time to relax in the air conditioned bus in between traveling to the different places. We wore our swimsuits under our clothes for the day but there is a place to change in and our of your swimsuit at the cenote. I recommend bringing a bag with sunscreen, bug spray, a hat, sunglasses, a towel, and maybe an extra pair pf dry clothes if you don't want to wear your swimsuit under your clothes all day. They give you water on the tour but we also brought a few water bottles from the hotel with us! Wear whatever shoes are most comfortable for you as far as walking goes we wore sandals and did okay Would highly recommend this tour! We had a great time!

The tour guide and driver were wonderful. I was particularly impressed with the tour guide's knowledge and passion when it came to the Mayan ruins at Tulum. While it was a long day in the sun, each part of the tour felt like it moved at a stead pace so we never felt like we were in one place for too long. And we always had a air conditioned van to sit in if needed! Overall great for our one off-resort experience during our stay in Riviera Maya.
