About this activity
Visit Chunyaxche’s archeological site located in the Muyil community. Our certified guides will explain the history of the temples, the flora and fauna.
Interact with the local community and get a welcoming in the Mayan Village, while enjoying their traditions expressed in their language. Drink Jamaica water straight from a “jicara” made right there at the moment, taste the local liquor from the region made from aromatic herbs, anise, and liquor called “Xtabentun”. Wander around and enjoy alongside your guide the explanation of the surroundings, such as the water wells, the habanero pepper harvest and the achiote seeds. Walking through its trails, you’ll get to know the tree and plant diversity which the Village holds, such as the Chechen/Chaca and the Ceiba trees all of them leading to an authentic Mayan Village, our guides will show you the metate, molcajete, huipil and hamacas held inside the traditional housing. Enjoy a fun and interesting explanation about the MELIPONA bees which is a bee from the region, a special kind since they don’t have a sting and makes them different than the rest. They harvest a very special kind of honey which you’ll be able to taste now; our guides will tell about how it is commercialized by the habitants of this community. During this activity you will be making handmade tortillas alongside the community people. “Sikil Pak” (Purée made from toasted pumpkin seeds, tatemando tomato and spices) habanero sauce shrouded in a molcajete. (Enjoy making and tasting) Let’s imagine for a moment that the history of the Mayan towns where a seashell sound. Enter; get into action, with the help of a chaman, the sounds of Mayan warriors through the sounds of the seashells. Feel the emotion of interacting in a spiritual Mayan ceremony, hold a positive energy, renewing, and transforming, especially the negative energies. Take your time to make wish to the copal for health, wellbeing, work, and wisdom next to the four cardinal points and the fire.
There isn’t anything more pleasurable than to go hand in hand with the air, fire, earth, and water in a purification ceremony, through the smoke of a copal and aromatic herbs that are rubbed gently from head to chest. Experiment like never before!
Live the experience of entering a sacred steam bath for approximately 30 minutes, surrounded by searing hot volcanic stones, water, steam, chants, and joy. You’ll be delighted at the end with a warm bath and aromatic herbs. Continue this experience by closing your pores in a crystal clear cenote, swim, and dive in without missing out on the wonders that this place offers. Sit down and relax while you enjoy a wonderful candle lit dinner, made by community people at the moment, harmonizing with Mayan background music. What will be on the menu pibil chicken, white rice, refried beans, potato with green peppers, handmade tortillas, desserts fruits, and white wine, red wine or Jamaica water.
