Tulum and Cenote Tour from Cancun
1 day
About this activity
Tulum, located on one of the few cliffs of the Yucatán Peninsula, is one of the last cities constructed and inhabited by the Mayans. Even though it s not the only front beach archaeological site in the world as a lot of people think, it is the best preserved, and the largest, which makes it just a great place to be photographed. To access the main site, you have to enter through its walls and then marvel looking at the cliffs covered with ancient buildings and the turquoise Caribbean Sea. Even though it is large for a front beach site, it is smaller compared to other mainland sites. It was an active and lively city by the time the Spanish came and it was because of them that the city became extinct, even though it was one of the last ones to be conquered.
Marvel at this incredibly preserved archaeological site which is nestled on a bluff above the shimmering waters of the Caribbean Sea. El Castillo, the Temple of the Frescoes, and the Temple of the Descending God are just a few of the remarkable works of architecture you see here. Before your tour concludes, take the opportunity for a great swim and great pictures at a different angle in the salty waters of the Caribbean Sea, in the beach that is right at the foot of the cliffs and also during the visit in a unique cenote close to the Xcacel beach.
