Yucatan Peninsula Full-Day Private Tour: Akumal, Tulum Ruins and Cenote Swim

About this activity
You will be picked up from your hotel between 7-8am and transferred to a natural park to swim in breathtaking cenotes. A cenote is a natural pit, or sinkhole, resulting from the collapse of limestone bedrock that exposes groundwater underneath. Especially associated with the Yucatán Peninsula of Mexico, cenotes were sometimes used by the ancient Maya for sacrificial offerings. Its water is often very clear, as the water comes from rain water filtering slowly through the ground, and therefore contains very little suspended particulate matter. The groundwater flow rate within a cenote may be very slow.
Then, you will visit Tulum arqueological zone, where with the help of a professional historical guide you will become real experts in the history and culture of Mayan civilization. The ruins are situated on 12-meter (39 feet) tall cliffs, along the east coast of the Yucatán Peninsula on the Caribbean Sea. Tulum was one of the last cities built and inhabited by the Maya; it was at its height between the 13th and 15th centuries and managed to survive about 70 years after the Spanish began occupying Mexico. One of the best-preserved coastal Maya sites, Tulum is today a popular site for tourists.
Once your Tulum visit is over, the "nature" part of the tour is waiting for you again in Akumal, where you will be allowed to swim with wild turtles in their natural environment, guided by a professional. It is one of the most beautiful beaches on the coasts of the Caribbean Sea. It has a particular appeal for those interested to have a unique snorkeling experience due to its rich marine life (mainly turtles) in shallow waters. If you come to Akumal you must get in the water and go snorkeling right away! At the end of this tour before heading back to your hotel, you will taste delicious, authentic Mexican food for a lunch.

The cenotes were incredible!! The sea turtles were beautiful, we even saw a stingray!! Although the GoPro footage would have been much better had the boat operators not forced us to wear life jackets. I was NOT happy about having to wear a life jacket, and would have booked a different excursion had I known that... Lunch was delicious - they had this watermelon drink that was amazing!! The Tulum Ruins were very interesting and beautiful. So much history : I cannot say enough positive things about our guide Tony and our driver Jordan. Both of them were so friendly and accommodating. They made us feel safe and were with us the entire time. Tony even went snorkeling with us!! Jordan is an excellent driver and Tony was so knowledgeable about the Mayan culture, the history of the ruins, and all the animals and plants. Tony even taught us how to use the Mayan numerical system!! It was an amazing trip!! A big thanks to Tony and Jordan!!!
We were a little nervous, since there was only one TripAdvisor review but it turned out really well. Tony was very knowledgeable and the combination of the beach and Tulum and Cenote swim made for a good day.
Our guide and driver was the most wonderful people we could have hoped for. Thank you for a unforgettable trip!!
