2-Day 'Stoked like a Local' Surf Camp

The surf camp accommodation is at a backpackers based right on the beachfront at Muizenberg Surfer's Corner. This backpackers has amazing views of the surf from the deck, a bar, self-catering kitchen and comfortable communal areas to relax after a long day of surfing in one of Africa's and Cape Town's most historic surf spots.

PACKAGE INCLUDES:

Lessons: 3 x 2-hour lessons

Meals: Day #1: Dinner, Day #2: Breakfast & Lunch

Use of all surfing equipment during lessons

Surfing photographs (snapshots taken by coaches during the lesson) uploaded to the web

Return transfers from the city

EXCLUDES:

Lunch (day 1: we recommend the fish ‘n chip café we take you to however there is a selection of good restaurants in the area where you can grab a bite to eat)

Dinner (day 2)

Snacks, soft drinks, bottled water, alcohol

Items of personal nature (including towels, sunscreen etc)

Optional activities (yoga-can be paid for in cash direct to yoga instructor)

PRE- and POST-camp accommodation (ie the night prior to departure from Cape Town and the night of day 2 when we return to Cape Town). These can be arranged if needed at an additional cost.

Airport transfers (these can be arranged at an additional cost) 

Day 1: Saturday We’ll pick you up from the city and transfer you to Strand beach, there you’ll do lesson #1. During this lesson you will be taken through the very basics of ocean awareness, safety, how to paddle and catch a wave and finally how to stand up on the board. We will then follow the coastal road to the picturesque Kalk Bay harbor where we’ll enjoy lunch at a true local fish ‘n chip café (other food options also available in the area if you prefer). We’ll take a walk along the harbor wall amongst the fishermen where there is a chance to spots seals swimming amongst the colourful boats. We’ll then head to a wine farm to taste the local wines whilst enjoying the views.We will drive along the impressive Chapmans Peak to enjoy sunset from the viewpoint before heading back to our accommodation in Muizenberg. There we will enjoy dinner together whilst watching a slide show of the day’s surfing photos and a surf movie. 

Day 2: Sunday We start off the morning early with an optional yoga class at 07:30am. After breakfast we commence with lesson #2 where you may find yourself riding a wave all the way to the sand. We will grab a take out lunch from the best local café where you then have the opportunity to relax and catch some rays. After the midday break, we will continue with lesson #3, where you’ll begin to feel more comfortable with directional changes in the ‘foamies’ and understand what the ‘surf check’ is all about. We will then transfer you back to Cape Town truly ‘stoked’ like a local.
