About this activity
Depart at 8am from your hotel and travel to Muizenberg Beach to see the fabulous technicolor Bathing Boxes that make for some striking imagery. The Boxes make for great photographic subjects but also offer an opportunity for the photo guide to demonstrate a few techniques that you can use throughout the day.
We head from Muizenberg to Kalk bay where we will walk though this very quaint old holiday town filled with antique shops, galleries, craftsman and vendors shooting as we go. Kalk Bay is a working fishing community filled with brightly coloured boats, some noisy seals and even louder ladies hard at work processing the day’s catch!
Lunch on tour is a casual affair so that we don't waste any photographic time. We advise clients to lunch in Kalk Bay as more often than not its super fresh fish and chips, while perched on the harbor wall watching the action in the harbor.
We make our way through Fish Hoek to Simons town and Boulder’s Beach, home to the famous Jackass penguins. We will spend some time photographing these charismatic birds and their surroundings, after which we continue forth.
We start to make our way over to The Cape of Good Hope nature reserve. Unlike other tours we like to get to Cape Point later in the day when the sun is better positioned for photography. We know a few little spots away from the crowds to get some beautiful images of this iconic landmark.
After leaving the nature reserve we start to head back towards Cape Town via the breathtaking Chapman’s Peak Drive. This winding road is cut into the enormous cliff face made of granite and sandstone which by this time is being transformed by the dipping sun. We stop at the top of the drive to take in the view back along the cliffs an forwards to Hout Bay Harbour.
We head back along the Atlantic Seaboard towards Cape Town through Bakoven and Kloof Neck to return to your central Cape Town hotel.
As mentioned, please take note that some of the routes and sights and weather permitting. In case of bad weather, you will be advised accordingly and allowed to reschedule for more suitable weather conditions.
