Stop At: Local Knowledge

We ask all guests to meet at our central location (The Strangers Club-1 Braemar Rd, Green Point, Cape Town, 8005) promptly at 10:00 AM. Once all our guests are on-board, we begin our journey to the Langa Township. The first stop is the Likhewezie Day Care centre. Guests will be given the opportunity to deliver donations and interact with the children. Please note that a portion of your tour cost goes towards buying donations for the children. From Likhewezie we will make our way to the Guga Sthebe centre where you will learn about the upskilling projects currently underway in the Langa township. Guests will be given the chance to join an African drum circle and learn how to play a variety of African instruments and sing the traditional songs. Next, guests will be taken to a traditional ‘shack’ to experience a Umqombothi beer tasting. The next stop is one of our favourites as we join a local resident in the home he built using nothing but recycled materials found in Langa. Our local resident, ‘Tata Shooter’, provides a lesson self-reliance and proactiveness as he discusses the innovation program that he teaches at local schools. Our last stop allows guests the opportunity to enjoy some local food, have a few drinks and enjoy some vibey music at the local’s favourite spot!
