About this activity
Caerphilly castle

Explore Wales' biggest castle; the second largest in the UK. Caerphilly was built as a fortress for the Normans to defend their position against the Welsh in the mid 13th Century, and later transformed into a residence fit for entertaining royalty. Your guide will take you on a tour of the castle before leaving you to enjoy some free time to explore the passage ways, towers and rooms of this huge castle.

Brecon beacons National park

Our journey takes us along narrow winding lanes, through a hidden valley and up onto the mountainsides, grazed by wild mountain ponies and sheep in their hundreds. We reach a mysterious 4,000 year old standing stone, and a well-preserved section of 2,000 year old Roman Road. We'll take a short break in a quiet spot next to a fresh mountain stream.

Woodland waterfall walk

We'll wander through a fairy tale gorge to a dramatic single drop waterfall. Oak, Hazel and Ash trees create a shady canopy, with ivy, moss, lichen and funghi clinging to the steep gorge sides. A 15 minute mostly level walk brings us to the falls, particularly spectacular after some rain. We'll stop for lunch at a picnic site.

RHOSSILI BAY AND WORM'S HEAD (Mar - Sep)

Discover why Rhossili Beach regularly tops the lists of 'Best Beach' in Wales, the UK and even the world! The amazing views over miles of golden sand; dramatic green cliffs; an evocative 19th Century shipwreck of the Helveltia buried in the sand; and the waves crashing against Worm's Head - an island resembling a dragon offshore makes this so much more than an ordinary trip to the beach. You'll have free time here to explore the beach, walk along the clifftops or just relax and take in the views at one of the pubs or cafes in the village.

DUNRAVEN BAY & GLAMORGAN HERITAGE COAST ( Oct to Feb)

Dunraven Bay, known locally as Southerndown Beach, is the perfect place to take in the Golden Hour. Enjoy some free time here exploring the beach at low tide, or watching the waves crashing against the fossil-studded golden limestone cliffs when the tide is in. Learn about the area's rich history at the Heritage Coast Visitor Centre, or take a guided walk up onto the cliff tops to an incredible view point. Explore the gardens of Dunraven Castle which once sat on the clifftop here.
