Itinerary
This is a typical itinerary for this product

Stop At: Volcan de Lodo El Totumo (Mud Volcano), Santa Catalina, Caribe Colombiano, Cartagena Colombia

The volcano and the very special Caribbean swamp landscape that surrounds it, make this peculiar geographical formation a must see experience in Cartagena. Once at the site of the volcano, climb the rustic wooden stairs and get ready for the highlight of the day. Once you enter the Totumo volcano you will feel like you’re floating mid-air, because of the smoothness and density of the mud. It is physically impossible to sink into it. At the top of the small volcano, you will not only enjoy the warm mud bath, but also the panoramic view over the Santa Catalina region.

When you leave, you can get a massage done by the locals or go swimming into the calm surrounding lagoon and get the mud off. Afterward, you can enjoy a typical lunch in the surrounding kiosks, typically consisting of fried fish and fried plantain (not included in tour price).

What a RIP OFF. We paid around 120..00 each. we got there everyone was excited to help us get to the top of the Volcano. As we were walking they ask if we wanted pictures. and ask for our phones. We were put into the mud and had the bath along with as massage. Which we thought was included in the tour price. After getting out of the bath , and being helped to wash the mud off. We walked back back to the car , We were told that each person who assisted us was to be paid 10 pesos. Your information on the internet says gratuity was optional. We were never told we were paying every person something. False advertising . An additional 60 pesos for WHAT. Nice site, i would not waste my time for money , on the bath, massage, any help waking , take your own photos. Very disappointed . Ruin the rest of the day. I travel all over the world and have never has people try and rip me off like this before. BUYER BEWARE

Of course the volcano experience was great. I just felt so attacked by the staff for tips. After paying 130, I really didn't see the need in tipping the guy who carried my flip flops, the ladies who rinsed me off which I'd rather do myself, the guy who used my phone for the pics and the guy who opened the door for the shower.

super weird but fun. we were not very thrilled about being forced to go to a emerald museum after we were wet and muddy but the volcano is a unique experience.

Had a great tour guide and this was really fun! It's quick but worth the experience.

We had a good time and the driver and guide were very nice people and knowledgeable. However, I think that it was overpriced. I found the same tour through the hotel where we stayed cheaper and included lunch. Ours did not include lunch.

You climb up rickety stairs and then down rickety stairs into a former volcano. You cannot sink in the mud, which still bubbles up. Aides in the volcano give you a massage and women rinse you off in the lagoon. All of these people want fees: about 5000 pesos. (About $2.50 US).
