Praia do Tamariz is a pleasant family orientated beach in the town of Estoril that is overlooked by a medieval styled Chalet. It's centrally located in Estoril, opposite from the Jardim do Estoril park and Estoril casino. From Cascais the coastal footpath passes along the beach and is only a 15 minute walk.

Travel by rental car is not as easy as there is no car park on the beach and parking is a nightmare at the weekends. Praia de Tamariz is well suited for families and is popular with Portuguese families, as the waters are very calm, with no tidal currents and the water is clean as is well away from the Tagus estuary.

The Forte de Santo António da Barra is located overlooking the sea, in the parish of Estoril. It is sometimes known as the Fort of Salazar as it was used by the Prime Minister, António de Oliveira Salazar as his seasonal residence during the Portuguese dictatorship.

The Praia de São Pedro do Estoril is one of the best beaches along the Lisbon coastline. The beach offers a wide sandy beach, clean waters and is conveniently located close to a train station. You can often see bodyboards and surfers.

Praia de Carcavelos is the largest beach of the Lisbon-Cascais coastline, with a 1.5km sandy shoreline. The waters are fed by the Atlantic Ocean and are far away enough from the Tejo Estuary to be consistently clean, and are suitable for swimming, surfing or bodyboarding. Along the beach front are numerous beach bars and cafes, perfect for a light lunch or to escape the intensity of the summer sun.
