Etna trekking experience from Catania

About this activity
Day 1
After pick-up from airport/hotel you will go to mount Etna for a trekking tour.
This excursion, which is suitable for people who are fit, includes a hike (easy, medium or difficult) to the south, south-east or north side of mount Etna, surrounded by breath taking natural landscapes, ranging from woods to volcanic deserts. You will be able to admire poplars, beeches, birches, chestnuts, oaks and pine trees. During the walk it will be possible to see some of the typical fauna of the volcano as well, such as buzzards, hawks, eagles, foxes, wild rabbits and much more. On the way you will stop shortly for a picnic (included in the price). The excursion will end with the visit of a lava cave with helmets and torches.
You will spend the night in a hotel*** on Etna at 2000 m
Day 2
The second day will be dedicated to reaching the top of the volcano.
Departure will be at about 10:00/10:15 am from Rifugio Sapienza.
The excursion will continue by cable car as far as 2.500 m a.s.l. and then by jeep as far as 3.000 m. a.s.l. where, accompanied with our guide, you will reach about 3.345 m. a.s.l. From this altitude you can admire the impressive summit craters of Etna (Bocca Nuova, Voragine, South-East Crater, North-East Crater). During the descent will be possible to explore the view point of the Bove Valley, a wide depression that collects inside the old eruptive center of Etna and the places of the other recent eruptions. Return to the point of departure by cable car.
