About this activity
In 2008, after spending a long time looking for the best land for their vineyards, the Planeta family stopped on the northern slope of Etna, next to the lava flows and the woods that surround Passopisciaro. Here the family planted their vines and, in 2012, they also gave birth to the cellar and the winery.
The estate is spread south and north of the village. To the north, in the middle of the beautiful vineyards of Sciara Nuova (and over 800 metres above sea level), they restored some fascinating old buildings, which now represent Planeta's hospitality heart.
To the south, near the vineyard of Feudo di Mezzo, the winery Feudo own Mezzo was built, just at the center of a sixteenth-century lava flow. Nearby are also the vineyards of Torreguarino, Pietramarina and Montelaguardia: the ideal vines for their white wines.
In Sciara Nuova a part of the ancient terraces has been transformed into a "vineyards theater" which hosts every summer the "Sciara Nuova Festival", one of the cultural productions that was created and produced by the Planeta family.
The visit to the winery ombines a guided tour and tasting of 4 different wines, throughout a journey to discover the varied Planeta production.
Each tasting ends with a selection of Extra Virgin Oils Dop "Val di Mazara Planeta".
If you wish, you can integrate the tasting buying more wines by the glass or wine bottles.
