About this activity
While aboard the Carolina Belle your professional and licensed captain will narrate history, sights, and facts about the Charleston Harbor as you pass locations critical to United States history. You will get close-up views of the Holy City's most famous and charming sights such as Fort Sumter: One of Charleston's most popular landmarks, where the first shots of the Civil War were fired, USS Yorktown: the famous World War II “Fighting Lady," Confederate and Union army Forts Moultrie and Johnson, St. Michael’s Episcopal Church: A surviver of both the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, whose steeple was painted black so as not to be an easy target, Stately homes on the Battery: Symbols of Southern elegance and perseverance.

You will also see the Cooper River Bridges, including the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge: A state of the art span that accommodates the largest ships in the world and connects downtown Charleston to Mount Pleasant. To add to this wonderful experience, don't be surprised if you see Dolphins skimming the surface of the water and pelicans diving for food.

The entire experience would have been so much better if the narration were in headphones or simply louder....if people around you were not interested, and started chatting, we couldn't hear. It was impossible to enjoy in the heat and sitting in the 'basement', although cool, was just kinda blah. I highly recommend only going in cool seasons or evenings.

Great job, Crew! Very interesting and enjoyable trip! I'd recommend it to any family. Better for older kids (not so much for the preschooler)

We went out on the boat on a day that was pretty cool and windy. Captain Erin was wonderful. She was very informative and gave lots of great history of the area. Loved it .

Captain Tripp and crew were very courteous and knowledgeable. We enjoyed this trip very much as we were only visiting Charleston for the day.

Good historical information about Charleston. Our captain/tour guide had a great sense of humor and definitely knew his Charleston history. The sites from the water were amazing. The appropriate amount of time was given. I definitely want to check out the evening version of this cruise, I bet it's even more amazing.

The monologue by Andy is superb. He covers the history and geography of Charleston from the Carolina Belle with accuracy and humor. The highlight of the trip for me was when he helped me into the area where the helm is, and invited me an 85 year old lady to sit in the captain's chair, and drive the ship for about 5 minutes. He gave me the thrill of a lifetime. I shall never forget this harbor tour. Thanks, Andy.

In spite of the weather cold and windy the harbor tour was very informative about the surrounding coastline of Charleston Harbor. We even viewed dolphins around our boat. The tour narrator had a pleasant manner with a few jokes thrown in.
