About this activity
For centuries Charleston Carriage Works LLC has been a hub of culture, class, charm, and national history. The British settled here in 1670 and quickly established her as one of the most important cities in America. As years passed, Charleston thrived and evolved all while keeping her unique personality.

A beautiful harbor as rich in history as it is rich in breathtaking vistas. Centuries old homes kept in pristine condition by their proud residents. Cobblestone streets. One-of-a-kind shops and vendors. Charleston has it all. And we'd love to introduce her to you with a Carriage Tour experience that is classic and unique as she. Each of our tours is an hour long and covers 3-4 miles of Charleston’s residential Historic District. They are narrated by some of Charleston’s best city-licensed tour guides who are happy to share their local insight with you. Tours load and depart about every 30 minutes from our stable at 20 Anson Street and a restroom is available for our customers.

Horses and carriages are an integral part of Charleston's history and there is something magical about touring the city the same way people have done for over 300 years. We will exceed your expectations!

Rocky and Eric were great. Eric was very entertaining and knowledgeable. Filled the tour with beautiful sites, history and comedy.

This was well worth the ticket price! It's a fun, quick way to learn some of the history of a beautiful southern city. Our guide was great and our horse, Dale, was quite the character as well

This carriage tour was amazing. Try to get Al and Jake (the horse) as your guides. Al added lots of humor to his narration.

My mom was in town for Easter and had never been to Charleston before. This was a great way to show her downtown, all while hearing from our guide the history of the area and how it came to be. Our guide was very knowledgable and made the experience well worth it! I HIGHLY recommend this tour to anyone!

Charleston has a beautiful historic feel about and touring by carriage is great, however due to the number of carriage companies and to keep traffic down, the area is broken up into Zones. You don't know what's in each zone or what zone you'll get when you are booking, it's like a lottery. This is the only drawback and it's a big one. I niavly thought by booking the residential tour you would get to see lots of it, but because of this zone grid, you only get to see about 8 streets...which very well may not be the ones you had hoped to see. This is nothing against the company itself or the guide, both were good....simply the system that needs to be clarified, so people know what to expect.
