Chattanooga Art Tour

About this activity
Meet your guide near the Hunter Museum of American Art in the Bluff View Art District, and then set off on your 3-hour combination walking and Uber chauffeured tour to explore the unique visual arts Chattanooga has to offer. You’ll begin by taking in the beautiful views from the cliffs overlooking the Tennessee River and the north shore of Chattanooga.
In the Bluff View Art District you’ll explore pieces of outdoor sculpture by artists including Tom Otterness, Deborah Butterfield and Alexander Calder. You’ll stop in the district’s River Gallery where a variety of art forms abound and you’ll review the current show.
From the district you’ll head to artist studios in the City Center or Southside neighborhoods. You’ll meet artists working in many different mediums and see their studios. Depending on the day, some artists may give demonstrations.
The tour will also include some of Chattanooga’s numerous works of public art. There are many murals in the MLK district and we’ll discuss one of the largest ones celebrating life in the MLK neighborhood.
Your tour will also include visits to a couple of Southside art galleries, featuring both contemporary and local art. Here the gallery managers will discuss the current show.
Overall the tour will include 7 to 8 stops and will conclude on the Southside. The ending point is close to many restaurants, shops and bars. There are plenty of local transportation options to get you back to your hotel or car.
