A Glimpse of Tibetan Scenery and Culture

2 days
About this activity
Day 1
Depart at 8:00 am. We set out on the 3. 5 hour drive to Lixian County, stopping on the way at the Ganbao Tibetan Stockade, one of the largest and best-preserved Tibetan villages in Sichan province. Ganbao means "village on the hills" in Tibetan. The entire village is built on the mountainside in a simple and natural architectural style. In the afternoon we will visit one of the Tibetan villages in the Miyaluo area, a place which is famous for its stunning red maple leaves in Autumn. We will have the chance to try the Tibetan butter tea, yak meat at a local restaurant or at a Tibetan people's home.
Day 2
Today we will enjoy a whole day in the Bipeng Valley area. Located at over 3600 metres this Nature Reserve is far less visited than its famous counterpart-Jiuzhai Valley National Park- but has the same combination of virgin forest, wetland meadows, highland lakes, waterfalls, a year-round glacier and snow-capped mountains. We drive back to Chengdu arriving in the early evening.
