Project background

Panda Experience works with the giant panda breeding base on the outskirts of Chengdu to provide you with meaningful panda volunteering experience!

The base is a scientific research institution in China that focuses on the prevention and control of panda diseases and field rescues. Many pandas set out from here as ambassadors to travel around the world. Their descendants came back here and became "returning" pandas.

This experience will be great to those who love pandas and support the cause of panda protection. We hope by this experience, you can have a better understand panda's current situation, living environment and problems in the process of their protection.

Itinerary

⌚ 7:00 a.m

You will need to arrange your transport to leave at 7 am in the morning. The base is about 50-kilometre away from city center of Chengdu.

⌚ 8:40 a.m

On arrival, you will meet the staff from the panda base. They will begin the day by giving you a breif orientation such as safety training, schedules of the day and so on. You will be given a name tag and a volunteer t-shirt.

Under the staff's guidance, you will start the day's volunteering work, which includes
• Clean pandas' "nests"
• Feed pandas
• Prepare pandas' food
• Make toys for pandas
• Assist staff on showing visitors around the centre

⌚ 12:00 p.m

Around 12 o'clock you will have lunch at the staff's canteen.

⌚ 1:30 p.m

After lunch, you will watch a documentary about panda and get to know more about them, and understand better the meaning of pandas' protection. After watching the documentary, you will assist the staff to prepare some food/snacks for pandas.

⌚3:30 p.m

You will finish the day around 3: 30 pm you will receive a panda volunteering certificate in thanks of your day's work.

⌚4:00 p.m

After the panda volunteering experience,you will arrange your way back to Chengdu. Or you can go ahead to an ancient town called Jiezi Old Town.

⌚6:00 p.m

Get back to Chengdu and call it end of the day!
