Explore the northern provinces of Thailand on this exciting cycling tour, and discover the stunning countryside and unspoilt nature of Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai. We ride back country dirt roads and elephant trails through the spectacular limestone mountains of Chiang Dao and to the scenic village of Mae Salak, straddling the Mae Kok River. After a visit to the village we head over to Bua Thong waterfall for a refreshing swim before riding to our charming Thai-style lodges.

We embark on a cave exploration of Chiang Dao caves on our second day, and ride on a mixture of dirt paths cut by local hill tribes. The peaceful trails offer fantastic scenery of the ancient Lanna kingdom as well as a chance to experience the Thai way of life as we make our way through small villages and are greeted by friendly locals.

On day 3 after breakfast we cycle to Tub Tao Caves and a temple retreat. We then continue on back roads through quaint villages before lunching in Fang. An easy afternoon ride takes us to the sleepy town of Mae Salak and our riverside resort.

The fourth and last day we ride an off road trail to Lakhu village where we hop on a long-tail boat down the river before cycling off road to Ban Ruamitr and later Chiang Rai.

We ride a total of 80mi (130km) over the course of four days, each day with none of the distances being overly long.

This fairly gentle cycling tour is suitable for riders with some off-road biking experience, but can be tackled by anyone with even a moderate amount of fitness.

Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai tour with Noom Spiceroads in February 2016 was fantastic! He was very knowledgeable and friendly. He was patient, capable, and we always felt safe. Food was of the best quality and Noom helped us pick out a good selection to try of different Thai foods at the different stopovers. There was excellent accommodation over three nights at 3 completely different places all provided more great experiences overall in the wonderful country of Thailand which I love so much.
