About this activity
Visit the most sacred temple in the North of Thailand: Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep is the most sacred temple in Chiang Mai
and contains a holy relic of the Lord Buddha. Tucked away in the mountains at an elevation of 1,056 meters (3,520 feet),
the temple can be reached by the carved mythical Naga Serpent Staircase. The temple offers an exhilarating view of
Chiang Mai city and its surrounding countryside. Drive back down to the city centre to visit some of the other impressive
temples of Chiang Mai. Wat Suan Dok is one of them, and dates back to the 14 th century when the Thai monarchy was
taking leisure walks in its gardens. Nowadays, it houses several white Chedis, all containing the ashes of Chiang Mai’s
former Royal family, and features one of the most famous Monk Schools in the whole locality of Chiang Mai. We will also
visit Wat Jedyod, also known as The Temple of Seven Spires.
Note: Please dress respectfully by not wearing sleeveless T-shirts, shorts or strapless sandals, when visiting Wat
Phrathat Doi Suthep
NOTE: Not available for those staying in Four Seasons or Dhara Devi

Paul, my guide was very knowledgeable. English had an accent but quite understandable.
Our tour guide, Ben, made this four hour tour the highlight of our first visit to Chiang Mai. He went out of his way to quietly explain the various historical and cultural aspects of the sights we saw and, in particular, was took care to find a chemist for one of our party who was unexpectedly unwell. The visit to Doi Suthep was remarkable and the temple complex very much unexpected in its beauty - though the day we visited it was very crowded being during a Thai holiday period. However Ben made sure we had enough time to see everything in an unhurried manner. The driver was also very efficient and we were never kept waiting long to be picked up at each stop. I would highly recommend both this tour and Ben as a tour guide.
Our tour guide, Noni, was exceptional--she is very knowledgeable about the history and facts of the various temples. We were picked up right on time at our hotel. The driver and the car were great as well...cold water available, and much appreciated on a hot day. We started our day with three beautiful temples in the city. It wasn't too crowded, which was great, so we could enjoy the peace. Noni gauged when we wanted to spend more or less time at a temple and was very accommodating. Doi Suthep is beautiful. It is very touristy, but Noni managed to guide us so that we avoided a lot of the crowds, but also saw everything we wanted to. Again, her knowledge about the temple's history is invaluable. At the end of the tour about 1:30pm, we asked to be dropped off at a vegetarian restaurant in the old city stead of our hotel, and Noni and the driver were very accommodating. Highly recommend.
