Wat Phra That Doi Suthep is a Theravada Buddhist temple in Chiang Mai Province, Thailand. The temple is often referred to as "Doi Suthep" although this is actually the name of the mountain
where it's located. It is a sacred site to many Thai people. The temple is 15 kilometers from the city of Chiang Mai. From the temple, impressive views of downtown Chiang Mai can be seen.

The construction of the temple began in the 14th century when King Saenmuang Phaeng planned to bury his father's ashes there. After 10 years of time building, it was not finished at a later time after his widow died from king Probably because of security problems, it took until the mid-15th century to be completed during the reign of King Tilokaraj.In the early 1990s, a new pagoda was built, funded by UNESCO and the Japanese government.

The temple houses an important Buddha statue: the Phra Buddha Sihing which gives the temple its name. The origins of this statue are unknown but, according to legend, it was based on the lion of Shakya, a statue since lost which used to be housed in the Mahabodhi Temple of Bodh Gaya (India). The Phra Buddha Sihing statue is supposed to have been brought, via Ceylon (present day Sri Lanka), to Ligor (present day Nakhon Si Thammarat) and, from there, via Ayutthaya, to Chiang Mai.

Wat Suan Dok roughly "flower garden temple" also known as Wat Buppharam is a Buddhist temple (Wat) in Chiang Mai, northern Thailand. It is a Royal Temple of the Third Class. The temple is on Suthep Road, approximately one kilometre west of Suan Dok gate at the west side of the moat.The Chiang Mai campus of the Buddhist Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University is housed within the temple compound.
