About this activity
We have the privilege of offering this exclusive tour that takes you through Doi Suthep – Pui National Park. This is a tour not available to those who wish to do things on their own as you must be accompanied by an experienced Doi Suthep Park Ranger as well as one of our English speaking tour guides. Exploring this jungle on your own is not allowed. It was designed for those interested in exploring both the must see temple of Doi Suthep and for those who would like to enjoy a trek without having to ride an elephant, go bamboo water rafting, or be surrounded by other tourists. These characteristics are what make this trek extremely unique. It is not often you will get to experience nature in a foreign land without the burden of begin surrounded by others all while having the luxury of a well trained and experienced Park Ranger to entertain any of your curiosities. Chances are you and your group will be the only ones on the trail. Conveniently located only 10 minutes outside the city this tour offers quick access to the beautiful forests of Chiang Mai.

Your day will begin with one of our English speaking guides picking you up at your hotel or guest house for an 8am departure. You will be delivered to Mon Tha Than Waterfall where your trek will begin. Experience the grandeur and breathe taking views the trail offers as you walk among forests of bamboo, tall hardwoods, a variety of colorful flowers, and a diverse bird population. Make sure you bring a swim suit as there will be opportunities to cool off in the pools of several waterfalls you will see. The hike itself is a moderate one but proper footwear is highly recommended.

Your hike will end at Chiang Mai’s most sacred temple, Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep (1383 AD). The temple is located 16 Km’s from the city and 3,500 feet (1,066 meters) above sea level. Its large golden chedi attracts Buddhist pilgrims from all over the world throughout the year. While you are there enjoy the panoramic view of Chiang Mai City and the Ping Valley from this beautiful mountain temple. Lunch is included in this tour and will be served after your visit to Doi Suthep.

Return transportation is provided to your accommodations after the tour.

So let me start by saying Doi Suthep is breathtakingly beautiful, unfortunately that’s the only good thing I can say about this tour. In the description it says you will hike with a ranger and there are waterfalls to cool off in....we did not have a park ranger with us only a guide who pretty much turned us loose on a trail, also no waterfalls along the hike those are later in the tour. So that was disappointing. Also once we got to the top of the hike we did not see a beautiful Thai temple we were met with a billboard, a road, and a pile of trash. When we finally made it to Doi Suthep it was stunning. Our guide met back up with us and took us to the temple entrance and then disappeared. Unfortunately we did not get any information on the temple or history. After spending an hour at the temple we were loaded back into the van and taken to the waterfall. Our guide told us to go up the stairs to the small waterfall which was beautiful he also told us if we wanted to see the big waterfall to go up the stairs follow the path for about the 15 minutes. Naturally we wanted to see it which takes me to the worst part of this tour where myself my husband and the other couple followed a trail for 45 minutes on our on only to seriously start worrying we were lost. Mind you we were all in our swim suits so hiking was not the most pleasant. We finally found another guide who told us to keep following the trail and we’d come to the waterfall. We continued walking and ended back up at the parking lot where we started the was no second waterfall! Needless to say all our us were exhausted and irritated and wanted to go back to the hotel. Our guide noticed we were all frustrated and tried bribing us so we wouldn’t leave a bad review. I will say as someone who hikes often the hike was definitely more on the difficult side I would not say it’s moderate. Also in the description it says you would have a guide and a ranger and at no point would you be left on your on in the jungle nine of that was true for our tour. I would not recommend this particular tour until they get the description right and hire the appropriate staff. However I highly recommend seeing Doi Suthep just not with this tour.

Pick up arrived on time. Only 1 other couple on the tour so in total 4 of us. Had a great day. Our guide was lovely. The hike was harder than expected, so wear trainers or walking shoes. I had walking sandals on which were ok, but not great.
