9.30 a.m. Arrive at Bann Pong Huay Lan with warm welcome from locals and fresh herbal drink.
09.45 a.m. Visit Community Forest Preservation Unit.
Learn the great success of King Rama IX in solving dry land problem.
10.30 a.m. Visit Freshwater Fisheries Research and Development Center.
Learn fish breeding and sex reversal in Nile tilapia. Here, locals can ask for fish to eat or to breed for profit.
11.30 a.m. Huai Lan Reservoir, where a full tank of spirit is preserved
Explore the beauty of the reservoir and enjoy its natural atmosphere. Capture your scenic memories and impression through the camera lens. Highlight of this spot is a royal pavilion of the King Rama IX where his majesty stayed when he visited the community.
12.00 p.m. Lunch together with simple local dishes cooked by villagers.
1.00 p.m. Grandma Som’s Farm
Visit a sufficiency economy based farm. Have a talk with Grandma Som who adopts Philosophy of Sufficiency Economy, growing enough to eat first and selling surplus later.
1.30 p.m. Weaving Handicraft - Art of the Nation
Get hands on experience by do the traditional handloom weaving, thread spinning and all the weaving processes from the professional women group of the village which helps preserving traditional handicraft and local wisdom.
2.30 p.m. Wicker Handicraft – Simply made through your creativity
The local scholars will demonstrate how to make wicker/weaving crafts e.g. making fish, birds, rice boxes or utensils by weaving bamboo filaments, rattan, coconut leaves or even pandan leaves. “Watch and Learn” and try to create a cute tiny rice box mobiles by yourself as a souvenir to take home.
3.30 p.m. Local dessert - nowhere else to be found
Try a local dessert “Kanom-Khee-Maeo” or literally means cat poops dessert cooked with rice flour and coconut, served with fresh herbal juice. You can hand on and learn the simple recipe to make yourself at home.
4.00 p.m. Say goodbye to Pong-Huai Lan and travel back.
