A City in Rebuild with an amazing future

About this activity
When the earthquakes struck no-one was ready. Small earthquakes are common in Christchurch but no-one ever expected anything like this. The oldest city in New Zealand was at its weakest. The first 7.1 earthquake struck early on a Sunday morning and was centered some 30 Km south west of the city. How-ever...the 6.2 earthquake on 22 February 2011 was centered just east of the central city and was shallow...just 5 km deep. It struck at 12:50 in the afternoon....the city was busy. In about 45 seconds $50 billion dollars worth of damage and 185 people were killed. The city reeled as the cities residents had their lives turned upside down...literally! In the months and years to followed over 13,000 aftershock were experienced by the people but they stayed resolute, the city would be rebuilt like never before. From disaster came a determination to rebuild and create the most modern city in the world...right here in The Garden City of Christchurch.
