This is a TRANSFER and not a TOUR as such.
South Island roads can be challenging, as challenging as the climatic conditions of the season. Super hot and dry in summer to snow covered roads, sometimes covered in Black Ice, during Winter. We drive on the left hand side of the road. Roads in the mountains can be narrow and very windy. You might cope...but would you enjoy? Ours is a large modern, air-conditioned wagon. Plenty of room for cases, skis or work gear.
This is a testing trip for an inexperienced driver. Having a professional, experienced driver will compliment the surroundings. You will 'enjoy' the ride in security and total safety.
