Set in a natural environment with 50 different wildlife species and over 500 individual ones Willowbank is suitable for all ages.
Wander the reserve at your leisure and meet a variety of introduced species including including otters, lemurs and gibbons and enjoy a unique farm experience. Remember to purchase some animal food on entry as with lots of wildlife to hand feed you're sure to meet a new friend.
Willowbank is also home of New Zealand's Big 5 - Kea the worlds only alpine parrot, tuatara - the worlds only living dinasaur, takahe - one of the rarest birds in the world, kaka - a rare bush parrot and of course the national icon - kiwi.
At 4.30pm join one of our passionate guides for a 45 minute guided tour and personal journey through the challenges facing New Zealand's unique wildlife. Learn about the many conservation projects Willowbank is involved with, in particular saving our national icon. You will be guided into our unique nocturnal house where kiwi forage at your feet and are not hidden behind glass!
Take a break in our cafe overloooking the deer paddock and during winter enjoy the ambience of our roraring open fire.
