A ride on the Nilgiri Mountain Railway toy train is the highlight of a visit to Ooty. A UNESCO World Heritage site, the train runs from Mettupalayam to Ooty, via Coonoor, in the Nilgiri Hills.
The journey is 46 km (28 miles) long and negotiates 208 curves, 250 bridges, and 16 tunnels.
The train passes through some picturesque locations of forested hillsides, tea estates, the Nilgiris Mountains, and the dainty villages and towns of the area.
You will board the train at Ooty train station and ride till Coonnoor. At the end of your journey at Coonoor, you will be collected at the train station and driven back to Ooty.
