About this activity
Pick up in Colmar and depart for the beautiful village of Eguisheim. Surrounded by vineyards, the narrow and concentric streets highlight the architectural merits of its half-timbered houses, lovingly decorated with flowers. After a walk in the village participate in a wine tasting session to discover the world renowned Alsace wines in a typical winery.

Your tour then continues on to the beautiful town of Riquewihr. Surrounded by ramparts, the village has been very fortunate to survive war and destruction. Its tiny streets, fortified walls and old houses have preserved their 16th century splendor virtually intact, making for remarkable architectural harmony. Free time for personal discovery and lunch.

After lunch you will follow the breathtaking Alsace ‘Wine Route’. Located between the Rhine valley and the Vosges mountain range, the 60 year old route winds across the slopes for more than 106 miles (170km). The itinerary leads across rows of undulating, vine covered hills, and through quaint villages with narrow streets and charming flower decked houses clustered around the local church steeple.

Finally, reach Haut Koenigsbourg castle. Here, follow your guide for a tour of this mighty fortress that overlooks the valley. Built in 12th century, the Castle occupied a strategic position controlling the wine and wheat routes to the North and the salt route that came from the East.

After the visit return to Colmar.

If you are short on time and have not rented a car yourself this is a great tour so that you can see the Alsace sights. We only had two full days in Colmar and wanted to get to see more of the area so this was a great way for us to get to see more towns. All the towns were charming, picturesque and we enjoyed them all. When you stop in Kaysersberg I highly suggest going straight to the castle look out point, its about a 15 minute walk uphill and then you go up the only part of the castle remaining There are no lights - bring your phone to use as a flash light. You will get the most amazing views of the town and all the rolling hills and vineyards, this was our favorite view spot of the day. The wine tasting was lovely, I was happy to have it at the end of the day we packed a bottle tight in our luggage and it did not break on the flight home. We were lucky enough to see some storks as well! If you are looking for a tour that will give you a lot of information on the Alsace region this is not that tour. It is more of a shuttle service. Our guide was lovely and would stop any time we wanted to take a photo along the drive and would answer any questions we had. But information was not just provided regarding the area and we would have loved to know more about the history, the towns we were visiting, wine production and so forth. Great way to see everything, and everything is beautiful, just not a lot of information provided. Only giving this tour a 3 star just because of the lack of information that came with the trip for an expensive day. If you just want to see the area though or are short on time, you will be happy you took the tour. We are still really happy with everything we were able to see in such a short time.

Great tour. Our guide was lovely and informative and fun and a nice group with 6 of us. A map would have helped greatly inthe small villages -- be sure to ask yiur guide in advance if they have them.

Loved this day trip from Colmar. Picture postcard villages to explore and if you are a wine lover then the wine tasting offered as an optional extra is a must. The guide was just wonderful offered a lot of information on the Alsace and gave us ample time to explore each of the beautiful villages we visited. Would definitely recommend.

Our guide, Alvaro, is a pleasant and knowledgeable guide whose sequencing of events and pace are excellent. We went to the Haut Koenigsbourg castle early in the morning and everybody was still fresh and could manage walking and steps easily. The view made the effort worthwhile. We visited beautiful towns like Eguisheim and Riquewihr where we spent some free time. While driving through the vineyards, Alvaro explained the different vines and wines, and made some photo stops. It was an enjoyable day with many memorable highlights.
