Itinerary

Day 1: Colombo - Yala National Park

Stop At: Yala National Park, Sri Lanka
Yala National Park is a huge area of forest, grassland and lagoons bordering the Indian Ocean, in southeast Sri Lanka. It’s home to wildlife such as leopards, elephants and crocodiles, as well as hundreds of bird species. Inland, Sithulpawwa is an ancient Buddhist monastery. Nearby caves contain centuries-old rock paintings. Southwest, Magul Maha Viharaya also has ancient Buddhist ruins. Both are pilgrimage sites.
Duration: 4 hours

Pass By: Galle Face Green, Galle Road, Colombo Sri Lanka
This long open space traditionally faces a narrow beach and the sea. This is the most popular beachfront park in Colombo city, to have a relaxing evening and see the sunset. Not only that, there are many activities to do such as walking, jogging, tasting sr Lankan street foods, fly kites and enjoy the fresh air. In the morning many people used to come to Galle face for exercising and in the fall of night street food vendors open their stalls where you can taste Sri Lanka's most famous 'Kottu Rotti' and 'Isso Wade'

Pass By: Old Parliament Building, Fort, Colombo Sri Lanka
This Neo-Baroque-style building was built during the British colonial era to house the Legislative Council of Ceylon. It was built on an idea of Sir Henry McCallum, which led to a proposal made by a committee to construct the new building for the Secretariat, Council Chamber and Government offices on reclaimed land at the northern end of Galle Face’ were accepted by the Government in 1920.

Pass By: Jami Ul-Alfar Mosque, Second Cross Street, Colombo 01100 Sri Lanka
In the hustle and bustle of Pettah, Colombo’s core commercial district is situated a most striking building, a spiritual haven called Jamiul Alfar Masjid. This mosque is remarkable because the architecture is Indo-Saracenic, incorporating pomegranate-shaped domes. But the most extraordinary feature is that each brick is painted red or white and used in contrasting designs, which gave rise to its common name, the Red Mosque. However, there seems to be a ban on Muslim women to visit the mosque due to religious restrictions. As there have been many who requested for a section for the women; there appears to plan for such a section, where women can do their prayers, to be built in the future. Though the red mosque is an Islamic religious facility, visitors from other religions are eagerly welcomed.

Pass By: Pettah, Colombo Sri Lanka
A bazaar with definite Middle Eastern flair, the Pettah is where Sri Lanka’s multi-culturalism is at its most pronounced. The bustling bazaar of Pettah is one of the oldest districts in Colombo and one of the most interesting places to spend a few hours. It is the most ethnically mixed place in the country. The crowds in Pettah can become overwhelming during the morning and late afternoon rush hours, but the streets are still thronged during most daylight hours.

Pass By: Viharamahadevi Park, Colombo Sri Lanka
Viharamahadevi Park or formally known as the Victoria Park is the largest, oldest and most colorful park situated in the heart of Colombo (Cinnamon Gardens), just opposite the colonial style Town Hall building. This is the largest & most attractive greenery in Colombo. The park features include a huge Buddha statue and a series of water fountains. It also includes a mini zoo, a children's play area. The Vihara Maha Devi park open-air stadium is a venue for concerts and public events. The park is a perfect place to relax, for shady walks, picnics and most of all a great place to spend your time with your family.

Day 2: Yala National Park - Kumana National Park- Colombo

Stop At: Kumana National Park, Panama-Kumbukkana Road, Hambantota, Tangalle 32508 Sri Lanka
Kumana National Park in Sri Lanka is renowned for its avifauna, particularly its large flocks of migratory waterfowl and wading birds. The park is 391 kilometres southeast of Colombo on Sri Lanka's southeastern coast. Kumana is contiguous with Yala National Park
Duration: 4 hours

Pass By: Beira Lake, 02 Colombo, Colombo 01200 Sri Lanka
Beira Lake is one of Colombo’s most famous landmarks. It lies right in the middle of the capital which is surrounded by many large businesses in the city and is one of the few places of relaxation and beauty within the city limits. As such the area on and around it has many attractions; not to mention the history of the lake itself. It still retains its Portuguese name. It is connected to many intricate canals which provided an easy way of transporting goods within the city and suburban cities.

Pass By: St Anthony's Shrine, St Anthony's Mawatha Kochchikade, Colombo Sri Lanka
One of the city’s most interesting shrines is St Anthony’s Church. Outside it looks like a typical Portuguese Catholic church, but inside the atmosphere is distinctly subcontinental. There are heaving queues of devotees offering puja (offerings or prayers) to a dozen ornate statues; a likeness of St Anthony said to be endowed with miraculous qualities is the center of devotions from people of many faiths. It is indeed a monument of love and devotion to St. Anthony raised by all, rich and poor, but mostly latter, in Colombo, as well as in the whole of Ceylon. May Anthony protect this City and this Island and all his devout are and lovers therein!

Pass By: Sri Ponnambalam Vanesar Kovil, Kotahena, Colombo Sri Lanka
This temple in Kotahena, northeast of Pettah, is built of South Indian granite. The Hindu Temples of Sri Lanka usually do not resemble the ancient Indians temples with their elaborate and detailed sculptures and solid black granite construction. This is doubly true for the capital city of Colombo which does not have many old Hindu temples. However, there is one temple dedicated to the Hindu God Shiva; which while not being too old, is still a peerless example of ancient Dravidian architecture. And that temple is Sri Ponnambala-waneswaram Temple.

Pass By: Dutch Hospital Shopping Precinct, Hospital Street Galle Fort, Colombo 00001 Sri Lanka
The Old Colombo Dutch Hospital (known as The Dutch Hospital) is considered to be the oldest building in the Colombo Fort area dating back to the Dutch colonial era in Sri Lanka. It is now a heritage building and a shopping and dining precinct. The old structure; with its boxy pillars, red clay roof tiles, and large central courtyards; was built in the late 17th century by the Dutch. Lavishly restored, it is home to shops, cafes, and restaurants run by some of Colombo’s best operators. Enjoy a pause for a cold drink amid the incredibly thick columns of its arcades.
