Day 1: Nuwara Eliya

Stop At: Gregory Lake, Nuwara Eliya Sri Lanka
Gregory Lake in Sri Lanka: a historic landmark in Nuwara Eliya
Gregory Lake was founded in 1873 by the then governor of the British era, Sir William Gregory, allegedly
to provide electricity. However, after its construction, the lake was mainly used for recreation and
recreation. In its heyday, Gregory Lake was the area's most famous attraction, and many visitors used it
to relax.

Recently, the mountainous area of ​​Nuwara Eliya received a complete facelift from the government. With
these renovations, the Gregory Lake area, located right in the center of the city of Nuwara Eliya, has
become an Art Lake Park with many recreational activities.
Visitors can now follow the old British tradition of lakeside picnicking or more modern leisure activities
such as swan pedal boat rides, normal boat rides, pony rides along the coast, balls for hiking, water
sports such as jet skiing, windsurfing, etc. As such, with these many attractions, Gregory Lake is a well-
known historical place of Sri Lanka that attracts many tourists visiting the country.

The lake is also the landing site for the Sri Lankan air taxi service amphibious aircraft, which offers
national scenic flights in Sri Lanka. In addition, you can reach Colombo in a very short half hour on the
newly built road in case a visitor has to return to the capital immediately.

Stop At: Horton Plains National Park, Nuwara Eliya Sri Lanka
Horton Plains National Park is in the central highlands of Sri Lanka and it is covered by cloud
forest and montane grassland . And also is a protected area. This have an altitude of 2,100–2,300
metres is rich in biodiversity .There are many species found here are endemic to this region.
This was designated as a national park in 1988. It is also a popular tourist destination and is
situated 8km from Ohiya, 6km from the world famous Dondra Watch and 32km from Nuwara
Eliya.The Horton Plains are the headwaters of three major Sri Lankan rivers called Mahaweli,
Kelani, and Walawe.
Balangoda culture have been found here. Large herds of Sri Lankan sambar deer feature as
typical mammals & the park is also contains an Important Bird Area with many species not only
endemic our country but restricted to the Horton Plains. Forest dieback is one of the major
threats that have to the park and some studies think that it is caused by a natural phenomenon.
The World's End and Baker's Falls are best among the tourist attractions of the park.

Victoria Park is a public park located in Nuwara Eliya, next to the Nuwara Eliya Post Office in Sri Lanka. Originally the park was the research field of Hakgala Botanical Garden. The park was formally named in 1897 to commemorate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee.

Day 2: Kandy

Stop At: Temple of the Tooth, Sri Dalada Maligawa, Sri Dalada Veediya, Kandy 20000 Sri Lanka
Sri Dalada Maligawa or the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic is a Buddhist temple in the city of Kandy, Sri Lanka. It is located in the royal palace complex of the former Kingdom of Kandy, which houses the relic of the tooth of the Buddha. Since ancient times, the relic has played an important role in local politics because it is believed that whoever holds the relic holds the governance of the country. Kandy was the last capital of the Sri Lankan kings and is a World Heritage Site mainly due to the temple.

Bhikkhus of the two chapters of Malwatte and Asgiriya conduct daily worship in the inner chamber of the temple. Rituals are performed three times daily: at dawn, at noon and in the evenings. On Wednesdays, there is a symbolic bathing of the relic with an herbal preparation made from scented water and fragrant flowers called Nanumura Mangallaya. This holy water is believed to contain healing powers and is distributed among those present.

Royal Botanic Gardens, Peradeniya are about 5.5 km to the west of the city of Kandy in the Central Province of Sri Lanka. It attracts 2 million visitors annually. It is near the Mahaweli River. It is renowned for its collection of orchids.
