Day 1: Negombo - Kalpitiya

Stop At: Kalpitiya Beach, Kalpitiya, Sri Lanka
Kalpitiya, Sri Lanka is a major spot for watching Whales and Dolphins. Dondra Point in the Southern Coast and Kalpitiya in the North Western Coast close to the Colombo International Airport are the main resorts for Whale & Dolphin Watching in Sri Lanka during December to April. Out of these months, January to March are the peak months of sightings. During these months, there is 98% chances of spotting Sperm Whales and great chances of spotting Blue Whales as their migration path is just off the shores.
We are able to arrange Whale & Dolphin Watching Trips off Kalpitiya Point in a fully insured power boat which will last for 3/4 hours. There are good chances of spotting Spinner Dolphins as well.

Stop At: Dutch Fort Of Kalpitiya, Palavi-Kalpitiya Rd., Kalpitiya 61360 Sri Lanka
The Dutch Fort of Kalpitiya was built in 1667, on the spot where the Portuguese had a stockade and a Jesuit chapel.
The walls are about four meters high and inside are the remnants of the chapel, a commander’s house, barrack rooms, a prison and several go downs.
Kalpitiya was important since it command the entrance to the bay. Puttalam was an area that had large amounts cinnamon cultivations. The Dutch even built a canal from Puttalam via Negombo to Colombo to bring the cinnamon. The fort was neglect for many years until it was turned into a Sri Lankan Navy base for training and operational activity escalation of the Sri Lankan civil war. The ramparts are in good condition today.

Stop At: Kalpitiya Lagoon, Sand Rte, Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka is a true paradise for Ornithologists. If you are a serious bird watching lover Kalpitiya lagoon is the perfect place for you. This tour will take you on an exciting adventure exploring the Kalpitiya lagoon by boat. Learn about the history of Kalpitiya and its wildlife. Ride a boat through the wilderness as you do some bird watching and spot some rare waders and water birds. You will be able to see lot of bird species and observe their behavior in their natural habitat. The entire lagoon is a marine sanctuary with a number of diverse habitats ranging from flat coastal plains and vast sand dune beaches to mangrove swamps and elephant inhabited jungles.

Stop At: Kalpitiya Kitesurfing, anawasal, Kalpitiya, Sri Lanka
Kalpitiya is one of most popular places for Kite surfing, Sri Lanka. If you're an adrenaline junkie, kite-surfing is one of the coolest ways to indulge yourself in Sri Lanka - and Kalpitiya is the place to do it. Kite-surfing is basically strapping yourself to a giant kite, and being dragged on a surfboard over the sea, by the wind .There are two main places that you could practice Kitesurfing in Kalpitiya One is called Wellai island, and the other is a thin long Sand Route on the west end of the Kalpitiya lagoon.

Day 2: Kalpitiya - Trincomalee

Stop At: Koneswaram Kovil, Trincomalee, Sri Lanka
The colorful and classical-medieval Hindu temple has been built in honor of Lord Shiva, one of the principal deities of Hinduism. Located on a sheer cliff overlooking the Indian Ocean, the Koneswaram Temple is a must visit and offers a great view of the entire Trincomalee bay.

Stop At: Fort Frederick, Trincomalee Town, Trincomalee 31000 Sri Lanka
Even though the Portuguese built fortification is today occupied by the Sri Lankan military, visitors are still able to explore the old ramparts and its history, while escaping the heat of the Trincomalee sun as most of the fort is covered with a line of trees.

Stop At: Pigeon Island National Park, Public Beach Road, Nilaveli 31010 Sri Lanka
A 10 minute boat ride from the Nilaveli beach brings you to the pristine white sand and the lush grove of the Pigeon Island National Park. The island is one of the two marine national parks of Sri Lanka and is famous for its crystal waters and beautiful coral reefs.

Stop At: Trincomalee War Cemetery, Nilaveli Road, Trincomalee 31000 Sri Lanka
The beautifully maintained British War cemetery located in Trincomalee is one of the six commonwealth war cemeteries found in Sri Lanka. Managed by the Sri Lankan ministry of defense, the cemetery holds the graves of the soldiers of the British Empire who sacrificed their lives during the Second World War.

Day 3: Trincomalee - Negombo

Stop At: Nilaveli Beach, Nilaveli Sri Lanka
Nilaveli with its soothing turquoise waters can be easily listed as one of Sri Lanka’s best beaches. With an engaging coastal community and fine beach, Nilaveli is best known for scuba diving and snorkeling during the months from May to September.

Stop At: Kanniya Hot Water Springs, Kanniya, Sri Lanka
The seven geothermal wells at Kanniya are a popular destination for holidaying Sri Lankans, locals and international tourists alike. You’ll also likely see Sri Lankan school parties visiting and playing in the wells. If you want to bathe, there are separate changing rooms provided for ladies and gentlemen. However, if you do bathe, be warned: you will attract plenty of attention!

Stop At: Uppuveli, Trincomalee Sri Lanka
The engaging coastal communities of Uppuveli and Nilaveli offer fine stretches of beaches. We stayed at Uppuveli which is more developed, but the water is calmer and good for swimming.

Stop At: Marble Beach, Kinniya Road, Trincomalee 31000 Sri Lanka
Unwind amid the beautiful scenery of turquoise water, powdery white sand, and lush greenery at Marble Beach. Don’t miss the chance to see the sun setting over the endless horizon in beautiful hues of red, pink, and orange. Try snorkelling and discover the vibrant underwater world, play beach volleyball, or just relax under the lovely wooden sunshades.
