Bundala National Park is located in the southern district of Hambantota in Sri Lanka. It falls within the dry zone and its climate can be described as hot and arid. The National Park spread an area of 6216 that consists of mainly of dry thorny scrub-lands, marshes and four brackish lagoons. The terrain is generally flat with sand dunes bordering the coastline. Each and every species of water bird found in Sri Lanka is believed to visit Bundala National Park. Nearly 200 species of birds have been recorded within the park, out of which 58 species are migratory birds. The vegetation is predominantly of a dry thorny scrub-land variety which provides a natural barrier to the wind and the terrain is flat with sand dunes that border the coastline. It is a fascinating safari for those who love birds, mammals and crocodiles in a beautiful natural environment. One of the best places to see a large variety of both migrant and endemic birds in Sri Lanka. This is the best places to see both saltwater crocodiles and freshwater crocodiles who are large in size. This is a only 3,4 hours excursion.
