About this activity
This tour covers the Galle city. It includes Galle Fort, Galle Clock Tower, Galle National Museum, Historical Mansion Museum, and Galle Lighthouse. You can get a knowledge on colonial history, interesting back stories, and detailed insights and amazing views. You also get to know about the modern Sri Lankan culture and its connection with the colonial era. This tour takes around 8 hours to visit Galle city. 
Hightlights of the Day; 
Galle Fort
A UNESCO World Heritage Site the Galle Fort, or Dutch Fort as it is also known, is a fortification first built by the Portuguese on the Southwestern coast of Sri Lanka. The initial fortifications, which were built in the late 16th century, were quite basic. However the fort underwent extensive modifications in the 17th century by the Dutch, making it one of the most important archeological, architectural and historic monuments to illutrate the European influence in South East Asia between the 16th and 19th centuries.
Galle Lighthouse
The Galle Lighthouse, or Pointe de Galle Light as it was also known, was the very first light station to be built in Sri Lanka. Dating back to 1848; the lighthouse was built by the British to ensure the safe arrival of their ships at the Galle harbour. 
Galle National Museum
The Galle National Museum is established in the oldest Dutch building of the Galle fort, constructed in 1656.

Historical Mansion Museum
Historical Mansion Museum exhibits a collection of miscellaneous items ranging from colonial artifacts to other antiquities - with many items available for sale. 
Galle Clock Tower
Galle Clock Tower is located within the Galle Fort in Galle, The Clock Tower is a popular landmark and overlooks the central Moon Bastion, on the site of the former guard room. The Clock Tower was constructed in 1883
Finally, at the end of the tour you can enjoy the sundown (during the evening tour) in the horizon before you leave the fort premises.
