Stop At: Cargills Department Store, No. 40 York Street, Colombo Sri Lanka

The one of the oldest buildings established in 1844 during British rule and a definite must see colonial building in the Colombo Fort.
There is a small shopping museum. You will find it on the corner of York Street and a road called Sir Baron Jayatilaka Mawatha.

Stop At: Dutch Hospital Shopping Precinct, Hospital Street Galle Fort, Colombo 00001 Sri Lanka

Amongst the busy commercial trade zone of the Colombo Fort region in Sri Lanka are some of the oldest structures of the city. The Old Dutch Hospital with its tropical colonial-era architecture is one of them. The old structure; with its boxy pillars, red clay roof tiles and large central courtyards; was built in the late 17th century by the Dutch.

Stop At: Old Parliament Building, Fort, Colombo Sri Lanka

Stop at Old Parliament Building and take in the neo-Baroque architecture on display. Constructed under British colonialism and opened in 1930, the building housed the island's' legislature until 1983.

Stop At: Galle Face Green, Galle Road, Colombo Sri Lanka

Get the city on one side and the sea on the other at Galle Face Green, the city's green lung. The largest open space in the urban area, it sits between the busy financial district and the ocean. Once used as an official sports area, with horse racing, a golf course, and rugby and cricket pitches, the park now serves as a blank canvas for locals and tourists to indulge in their favourite activities, surrounded by extensive views of the ocean.

Stop At: Viharamahadevi Park, Colombo Sri Lanka

Viharamahadevi Park, the oldest and largest park in Colombo. Lush and well-maintained plant life, such as tall trees and colorful flowers, surround the pathways and benches. Walk over the lake's suspension bridge and visit the war memorial, paying tribute to Sri Lankan and European soldiers who died in both world wars. Kids love the extensive play area featuring a massive playhouse, swings, slides, and mini hills.

Learn about the history of the nation, its people, and its natural habitats at Colombo National Museum, one of the country's premier cultural institutions. Established in 1877 under British colonial rule, the museum possesses a large collection of artifacts and specimens related to the nation's cultural and natural heritage, displayed in rooms arranged by date and theme. Independence Memorial Hall, where Prince Henry put an end to five centuries of colonial rule and gave independence to Sri Lanka. At the entrance, you can see the statue of D.S. Senanayake, the nation's first prime minister, before stepping into the assembly hall, which served as the royal court of the last kingdom on the island, the King of Kandy. The building and statues give a sense of the site's impressive history and cultural importance. Don’t miss the chance to visit the basement museum, which hosts exhibits on the country’s colonial history, highlighting Sri Lanka's struggle to achieve independence. In addition, the museum features exhibits on the country’s ancient literature and art.
