Join a day dedicated to the Vikings. An English-speaking guide will take you along to all the sights and tell you all you need to know.

At the Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde you can really follow the Vikings footsteps, you will learn how they lived and get an insight into the their craftsmanship. At the museum you can also see the beautiful and impressive original ships they used to travel to faraway places.

At the remarkable UNESCO listed Roskilde Cathedral, the famous Viking kings of Harald Bluetooth and Sweyn Forkbeard are buried alongside almost 40 Danish kings and queens. The Cathedral is one of the earliest examples of gothic architecture in Northern Europe and you will hear stories of how Sweyn Forkbeard conquered England as well as tales of Harold Bluetooth.

You will not only follow in the footsteps of the Vikings, you will be at the cradle of Danish civilization in Lejre, one of the most important power centers during the Viking Era and Iron Age dating from 500-1000 AC and home to a unique complex of long houses. At Lejre Museum, located in the national park Skjoldungernes Land, you will learn about ferocious myths, and taste a glass of the legendary Viking drink mead, which legend has it “he who drinks mead is ensured eloquence and knowledge”.

A great day-trip to take. You visit the Vikings shipyard in Roskilde, the Roskilde Cathedral and Leire, the Vikings first site. Very interesting tour with a luxury mini-bus and a knowledgeable guide. We really enjoyed it. Thanks PHILIP!!

Our guide was Phillip who was amazing. He was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He was patient and even went to the bookstore with us to select the best books for our interests. This tour includes many interesting sites were all worthwhile. Wish we had more time at the Viking Museum at Roskilde because it is fascinating. A pleasant surprise - One of the people on the tour lost her cell phone and they made every effort to help her and it was retrieved.

Excellent guide in Phillip who was not only knowledgeable but had many good stories to keep us entertained. Tour was a good length at 5.5 hours but perhaps a lunch stop could have been added rather than eating in the bus. Everything was well organised and went smoothly and certainly we learnt a lot about the Vikings and their impact on the world.

We spent an hour at the first stop in Roskilde but didn’t have any time to visit the museum because the tour guide led us through ship building. That was really disappointing. We also spent over an hour in the church which was way too long. And finally we went to the stone house and mead tasting. That part was pretty great. Overall we felt like we didn’t spend enough time on the Vikings which was the point of the tour.

We recently visited Copenhagen while on a cruise ship. We decided to take this tour because the cruise shop tours have a ton of people and since my husband uses a walker we opted for a private tour. We are so glad we did! There were only six of us in the van and the driver, Alfio, and the tour guide, Phillip, were the best. During our stops both of them made sure my husband was taken care of and Alfio even helped push him up a hill to a ancient burial ground. You won't get that on a cruise ship tour. Thank you Alfio and Phillip for a lasting memory. You deserve a raise!!

Loved. This. Tour. We were a small group 6 persons and had ample time to walk around each location independently. Our guide Ole, was positively bursting with information. The Viking Museum has an outdoor area with little huts for rope making, blacksmith etc. Replica viking boats are built before your eyes! The museum is small but informative. Great photo opportunity of the harbor. My favorite part of the day were the mounds and the Lejre Museum. The drive to the mounds through the Danish countryside is breathtaking. The location is built similar to a Viking hall, lined with artifacts and stories to elicit the imagination. The mead was delicious, and very well priced for a fun souvenir. The Roskilde Cathedral is also very cool and worth a visit. Remember to bring Ole!
